NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Authorities in Tennessee say at least six people were injured in a shooting at a church in the Nashville area.
Nashville fire department spokesman Joseph Pleasant tells the Tennessean newspaper that at least six to eight people were hurt and were being transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The nature of the injuries weren't immediately known.
A dispatcher quoted by the newspaper said that the scene was still "active" at the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ as of 11:40 a.m. Sunday.

One woman was killed and seven other people were hurt after a shooting suspect, identified as former churchgoer Emanuel Kidega Samson, opened fire at a Tennessee church Sunday, police said.
Samson, identified as a 25-year-old man who immigrated from Sudan two decades ago, is suspected of bringing two pistols and a mask to Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch, southeast of Nashville, before opening fire just after 11 a.m. He fired “multiple rounds,” police said in a news conference.

I'm next county north of Knoxville up I-75. Two of my neighbors are preachers...with Conceal Carry Permits.
The perp attacked a Church of Christ they are more likely armed. They're devout individually ran churches with no national HQ as far as I know. Of the more well known Church of Christ members and ministers? The Robertson family {Duck Dynasty}. Not to be confused with very liberal United Church of Christ.

You are correct...the churches of Christ are each independent. Each congregation is overseen by Elders (Pastors) of that individual congregation. There is no national, state, district or other type of governance.
And yes...the Robertson clan are all members of a church of Christ congregation in West Monroe, LA.
