Between Sept. 14-20, the Russian armed forces will conduct a major exercise, ZAPAD 2017. Employing forces from various Russian commands, the exercise will test the military's ability to conduct a combined arms offensive. That's exactly the kind of operation Russia would use to invade Europe.
While there's nothing new in the Russians carrying out a military exercise, this situation is different due to the scale and location of the forces involved. That geographic choice is designed to send a specific message to NATO.
After all, bordering NATO member Poland, Belarus offers ZAPAD forces the means to rapidly strike into the heart of NATO. Joining that threat is the Russian fortress-oblast of Kaliningrad, where reservists have been called up...................

Russia threatens a weakened NATO. Invasion may be imminent. It will come quickly, lasting only 60 hours before a forced truce by the UN, result; End of NATO and a unified Europe.

Russia wants to invade to become Europe’s only hydrocarbon supplier?

How does this relate to Korea having thermonuclear warheads and the ability to launch them to altitudes consistent with EMP; with Iran's bluster; the Muslim demographic flooding of Europe ("The Childrens' Jihad" ;-) ; and China's building up in the South China Sea and attempting to build a blue-water navy?
To quote a line from a Tom Clancy novel, "...they all make our life kind of hard."

The choice for the US. Is it better to have Europe ruled by Russia or the Caliphate? Is it worth the nuclear destruction of US cities in order to “save” current day socialist Europe?

If Russia conquered Europe, they would soon realize the Europeans are too much trouble and turn them lose.

I believe Putin was the name of the political/intelligence officer in The Hunt For Red October.
Think Clancy knew Putin had a future, back in the early 80’s?:)

I got a contingency plan for the Russian invasion. Hear me out, this is good.
1.) Let Russia invade, put up sham resistance.
2.) Let the new Russian overlords kill all the democrats, moslems, and ship the Mexicans back to their wonderful homeland.
3.) Once that is accomplished, we conduct Operation Wolverine 1776 and wipe those commie bastards off the map.
4.) Take the rest of the day off.
Whaddya guys think? Plausible?
