She's Planning for College. But She'll Miss President Trump's Deadline to Avoid Deportation
TIME ^ | September 21, 2017 | by Maya Rhodan

Like many high school seniors, Indira Marquez Robles thinks a lot about her future. She knows what college she wants to go to (Bryn Mawr) and what she wants to be when she grows up (an immigration attorney) but she also doesn't know if she'll be at risk for deportation in the next six months.

Marquez Robles is a beneficiary of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.

Because the 17-year-old Houstonian's DACA will expire on March 21, 2018, she doesn’t have any option but to wait and see if Congress passes legislation that would grant her some form of legal status.

“Mentally and emotionally, I’m just going through the stages of accepting that there’s no like, ‘Here’s what you can do, you can go renew,” the Houston resident told TIME.

For most of her young life, Marquez Robles thought the fact that she was born in Mexico was innocuous. In fact, she thought it made her kind of special.

She’d spent nearly her entire life in the U.S., having been brought to the country when she was just six months old, and never once thought of herself as anything other than an American. But when she was 14, eager to travel to France on a school trip, her parents broke the news. Unlike her siblings, she wasn’t an American citizen. She would not be able to go.

Marquez Robles recognizes that if there is no legislative fix in six months, she could lose her status, but for now, she is staying focused.

“I’m not going to let this deter my desire to attend college and apply for scholarships,” she says. “If anything it’s driving me to apply for more.”

The problem with DACA is the 800,000 will turn into 8,000,000+ illegal aliens gaining status when they bring in parents, siblings, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and other imposters.

Unless Congress ends Chain Migration (Ted Kennedy, 1965) in favor of merit-based immigration, DACA is a trojan horse.

Deport them all immediately. No exceptions. NO excuses.

I am sure Kate Steinle had dreams too.

She missed out on her 33rd Birthday.

If her parents were too lazy to get legal residency for her, it’s their fault she will be deported. No sympathy for squatters who have taken a place that should have gone to an American citizen.

Just apply and keep on going. What got me....was her intention to be an immigration attorney....given her life long status.

Now that makes no sense at all...In fact, I'd say it's likely a big, fat lie.

I’m planning to win the lottery, too. But I probably won’t have the money in hand before my next tax payment is due. Do you suppose the IRS will be happy to wait?

If they are so awesome and now educated thanks to the American taxpayers, they should have no problem finding high paying jobs in the countries they are citizens of.

I hope she will be deported. We don’t need criminals like her clogging our courts with frivolous arguments for ignoring the law. Deport every illegal. No exceptions. Then fix our legal immigration system so it’s easier for the number of immigrants we want to come here legally.

But when she was 14, eager to travel to France on a school trip, her parents broke the news.

Oh,STFU!Then go to France and sit your ass down and bitch and moan demanding your rights, see if they take you even if you aren't a Muslim.Good job on the idiot parents also.

Unlike her siblings, she wasn’t an American citizen.

Nice scam the family has going. They are all a bunch of chain-parasite colonist cockroaches that will multiply so much the country will one day look like a Mexican tenement.

F-their F-ing dreams! Their dreams is the nightmare and lights out of America. I know of plenty of immigrants who were brutalized in their former country, stood in line for years for a Visa and stood in more lines for a decade to get citizenship. They are some of the greatest Americans. The illegal alien and their spawn are illegal for a reason and their illegality never stops. They are the perfect Democrat voter.
