An engineering student who was an LGBTQ activist was shot and killed by Georgia Tech campus police on Saturday night, officials said Sunday.
The school identified the victim as Scout Schultz, 21, a fourth-year engineering student from Lilburn, Georgia, who police said was armed with a knife. Schultz, president of Georgia Tech's Pride Alliance, identified as non-binary and intersex and preferred to be referred to with they/them gender pronouns, according to the alliance's website.
At a news conference Monday, Schultz's family's attorney said the student was experiencing a "mental breakdown" on the night of the shooting.

Score one for the good guys.
Gun trumps knife snowflake
Doesn’t seem a good shoot to me. I’m the mother of a deceased mentally ill son. Lots of feelings here.
This is old news. Tonight’s news is about the subsequent rioting.

I think that when one starts to refer to oneself in the plural, the breakdown has already occurred.

He’d mentally broken down long before that night. Homosexualists enabled and encouraged his mental instability by assuring him that there are more than 2 genders.

Call about suspicious man was made by Georgia Tech student killed by police, investigators say
I am a police officer AND the father of mentally challenged son.
It’s a tragedy and I am firm believer that no shoot is a good shoot. No one wins.
However, if my son came at me or my wife, or any other innocent, with a knife, I would not let him stab them and if that meant shooting him, then I would do so.
And I would be destroyed forever afterward.
I don’t blame these officers and they will have to live with this shooting for the rest of their lives.
Bipolar transistor...LoL
Specifically, a PNP type... pee-n-pee
I’m an NPN type, a 2N2222A to be precise.you can always count on me! ... at least up to about 700ma... a bit more if I can keep my cool.
LoL...this is all such silliness.
I had a childhood friend who was killed in a police confrontation.
He had Asperger syndrome and could not read their intentions.
But the police were NOT at fault...just a horrible thing and I know they suffered more than he.
What, they couldn’t shoot the knife out of his hand or just wing him?
My worst nightmare. My boy has autism and would not understand either. He’s big and very strong, and would probably require a lot of force and officers to contain if he were taken into custody for something.
One of the things we learned in the police academy is that all people have limits to their pain threshold. Once that limit has been crossed and they are no longer feeling pain for compliance, you as the officer are in a bad place, because they have gotten to a point where the only thing left is deadly force.
Reports are that is was a closed multi tool. Not a “knife”.
