On Friday, October 10th, 2008, John McCain was giving a presentation at one of his rallies. During this rally, an attendee stood up and asked a question about then candidate Senator Barack Obama. LINK
McCain responded at length admonishing her for the premise she had presented about Obama, when she said she feared an Obama presidency.
During his presentation, he told her, the other attendees, and citizens around the nation that they had nothing to fear from an Obama presidency.
It was essentially an endorsement. Anyone aprehensive about an Obama presidency was told not to have any fear. This was effectively a kill shot to his own campaign.
Whatever McCain had going for him, it ended right then and there. Note the date. Note the time frame.
Eight years later, on Saturday, October 8th, 2016, John McCain very publicly withdrew his support for Republican Nominee Donald J. Trump. LINK
Senator McCain had chosen to once again toss an election up into the air with his personal actions on a weekend about one month before a November election, this time to possibly destroy another Republican's election bid.
He did this saying the following:
"I have wanted to support the candidate our party nominated. He was not my choice, but as a past nominee, I thought it important I respect the fact that Donald Trump won a majority of the delegates by the rules our party set," McCain said in a lengthy written statement. "I thought I owed his supporters that deference."
"But Donald Trumps behavior this week, concluding with the disclosure of his demeaning comments about women and his boasts about sexual assaults, make it impossible to continue to offer even conditional support for his candidacy. (McCain's wife) Cindy, with her strong background in human rights and respect for women fully agrees with me in this."
This from a man bedding anything in sight as a young man, neglecting his studies to come in a few people short of the bottom of his class, to live the wild life during his college years. Why did he seek the presidency if he thought unfortunate male behaviors were a valid reason to rule someone out? Lest someone think I'm being unfair, since those episodes took place early in his life, let's recall how McCain descrbed the night he met his future wife in Hawaii. "I persuaded her to join me for drinks at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. By the evening's end, I was in love." LINK LINK At that very moment his wife who stood by him while he was a POW in Vietnam, was waiting patiently with their kids back in thier home in the mainland lower 48 states. Within months McCain would be divorcing his wife, and marrying Cindy very soon after that. The whole precess was concluded within 60-90 days, including his marriage to Cindy. He obtained a marriage license to wed Cindy before his divorce was final. Did this disqualify John, the grand protector of women? Evidently not. Still trying to find a moment in John's personal life when character mattered.
As for Cindy being the go-to person to judge someone else, she was perfectly fine with screwing over John's then current wife and their children. Should peope have used her as their guide considering Trump's morals.
At the links provided above, it states that Carol (his first wife) and Nancy Reagan endorsed him for president. The endorsement of both was very magnanimous of them. Carol was devistated during and after the whirl-wind divorce. Ron and Nancy Reagan were not amused. They and other well known Reagan confidants personally helped Carol out during this period.
It has been a long time since I have read these materials, but a source that died on the internet was not as gracious to the Senator. He was a carousing ally-cat. Carol was obviously NOT aware of this, desirous of, or expecting a divorce.
As I read the materials I'm linking here, it seemed as if they had been cleaned up, sensitive negative matrials smoothed out. Reading between the lines, it's still very clear what took place.
Not only was Cindy a good looking woman, but equally or even moreso important was the fact she was the daughter of a very wealthy man. Jim Hensley LINK
On Wednesday, October 19th, 2016, just 20 days before the Trump vs Clinton election on November 8th, 2016, Meghan McCain appeared on FoxNews to explain why she was joining her dad and others to try to destroy Trump's candidacy. LINK
Other highly visible Republicans had started calling for Trump to withdraw from the 2016 ticket. Trump's response was, "Not in a million years!"
Both McCains and Republican leaders (GOPe) were urging Trump to step down, voicing concerns about the Republicans losing Congress. (one has to wonder why, realizing what those fools have done with their majority Trump won for them.)
Meghan McCain may now stand poised to take over her father's seat for the remainder of his term, if his illness pregresses to the point where he passes away short of the end of his present term on January 1st, 2023.
The question is, is Meghan simply another slippery GOPe stallwart. You have to look at what the ramifiations of her actions were in the waning days of October 2016.
If she does serve out the remainder of her dad's term, she will be in the U.S. Senate for the next 40-50 years.
That family has had it's day working it's magic for our nation.
For God sake Arizona, enough already!
In conclusion, her, her father, and the GOPe stampede to abandon Trump flew in the face of Hillary Clinton almost certainly being assured of the presidency if he had withdrawn. People had signed on to support Presidential Nominee Donald Trump, not V.P. candidate Pence.
Imagine these political insiders not being the slightest bit concerned about a Clinton presidency. Folks will have to ask themselves if this really the caliber of person we want to serve in John McCain's seat, should he pass away? Shouldn't we want people that won't vote against us on many issues?
Now is the time to think of this and make your thoughts known.
If he truly cared about the people of his state he would bow out now.
But he’s just like Ted Kennedy. No consideration for the state, the people, or the party. Or his family! Just mememememememe.
“... Trump should demand term limits for congress and all Judges ...”
-
The president can’t do that.
Congress can’t do that.
It would require an amendment to the Constitution.
(but you already knew that, right?)
The thought of her succeeding her father never entered my mind. I doubt she's an AZ resident but she has time to establish that. I can't imagine she would be likely to win a primary unless the Governor was foolish enough to appoint her to the vancany,
Meanwhile the young McLame was seen gussying up to the food line at Golden Corral for the 14th time.,in one visit.
She inherits his seat, right?
Daddy said so!
Will the Democrats stage another Wellstone Memorial Political Rally on a major network to attack the Republican party?
Thanks!
Retire now, enjoy the rest of your short life, please don't work anymore for us.
That’s a valid viewpoint.
I believe that it is thought the spouse knows the person better than anyone else, and would continue to implement their world view.
I don’t necessarily object to your take on it.
I would like to believe that.
Over and over they re-elected the caliber of this man.
LOL
Seems I remember some talk of her buying property down there in Arizona.
Interesting thought.
Sounds good to me, but I’ll have to admit, I don’t know anything about him.
When it comes to the Senate and House, I agree.
When it comes to judges, I would like to see another metric.
If it can be shown a judge is ruling outside normal tenets of law or the U.S. Constitution (and unreasonably so) more than 5% of the time, I think they should be removed from the bench.
I would probably modify this myself because it’s a bit convoluted, but as an outline plan, this or something like it needs to be instituted.
We have too many judges going off on “feelings” instead of accepted tenets of law.
Exactly!
Thanks Impy. I appreciate the comments.
If her dad, as disgusting as he was, could win elections there, I fail to see why she couldn’t.
I don’t see her as clearly objectionable as him, even though I do strenuously object to her getting the slot.
She’s clearly not a Conservative by any stretch of the imagination.
If McCain wasn’t here daddy, she wouldn’t have made it into the public arena for two seconds.
I’m beginning to wonder if that isn’t her bloated stomach sticking up over her blouses in every picture.
If he did, I didn’t see it. He may have knowing him.
“:^)
I’d love to see him out of there.
I’m just hopeful that he’ll be replaced by someone who can make up for how much he stabbed this nation in the back.
He was a war “hero”. She’s just his vapid spawn, who’s barely old enough to be a Senator.
Unless she’s an appointed incumbent I can’t see her winning the nomination. Many people, conservative and RINO both will be interested in the race, people who have run races before.
That’s presuming she’s even interested, her leaving Fox could be considered a sign but could have nothing to with any interest in running.
