How can someone get all the way to judge and not understand the most basic legal framework of the United States Constitution.

The pardon is done, the verdict voided.

It is over.

This is like deciding whether you are going to give someone your car keys when the car has already been stolen.

This is the clearest indication that the entire charge and how the trial was managed was a political vendetta. The Judge needs to go.

A pardon doesn't overturn a conviction at all. It just eliminates any punishment for it.

This isn't a case of a judge overstepping her authority. The timing of Trump's pardon of Arpaio was actually bad -- because Arpaio already had a motion before the judge to overturn his conviction. Despite the pardon, it's Arpaio who is pushing to have this motion heard. He'd rather have the conviction overturned (which means it isn't reflected anywhere in his record) than accept the pardon (which means it is).

See my last post. It's actually Arpaio and his legal team who are pushing this, not the judge.

The whole case has turned into a charade because President Trump issued a pardon to Arpaio while there was still a court proceeding underway to see if his conviction should be overturned anyway.

Arpaio is basically saying to President Trump: "Thank you, but I'd rather pursue my case first and try to make your pardon irrelevant."
