Well, there was this little thing called a VOTER REBELLION that occurred last November. Neither party wants to take responsibility (yet) for their own shortcomings, and neither party wants to admit (yet) that it's really happening. It'll take another election or two where the voters throw the bums out before they start getting the message.

It's way too early to send the success or failure of Trump's presidency to the jury, but I'm still happy. He already saved the nation from complete collapse under either Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton, the two uni-party favorites.

The establishment elites from both parties hate him to the core and will not lift a finger to help him move his agenda, so it's going to be doubly hard to succeed. But again, at least Hillary's agenda is not under consideration nor is Jeb's.

If Trump can horse trade and wrangle in his border wall, his tax cuts, continue his cuts to the EPA and other strangulators and get jobs and the economy moving again, and continue getting his conservative judicial picks conformed, then his presidency will definitely be a big WIN.

Meanwhile, we keep the rebellion moving. Lot's of Cantorizing yet to be done.

It is interesting, if not for Laura Ingraham going after Cantor, we would have had amnesty a long time ago, and that would have been the end of it. She deserves a spot in history, ( along with you Jim ! ) and you both deserve a big steak and a cold beer!

It is amazing, maybe since then they UniParty whilst they seem to be in power is really hanging on by a thread.

They think it is their job to do nothing right now and keep the campaign bucks coming, but they can be thinned out, one by one, at some point, K-Street and the Swamp in general looses.

Case in point, did anyone see David Trott from MI self exit and will not run again? Swampian he is, he can see the handwriting and he can't stand Trump. Good, the bad news is that district is marginally an "R" so it will be a tough slog for a constitutional conservative to win.

Read American Icon about the Ford's Turn around. In the book it is noted when a new CEO comes in and changes a culture, their are those that will buy into the change, and those that don't can be fired for being obstinate, or they can self exit and find a new career.

Much like Mulally, PDJT is changing the culture, and more self exits ( Trott, Hatch etc ) will occur along with our "firings" ( Strange, Flake and hopefully many more ).

At somepoint they will get the message, it is not business as usual...

Agree with you, Jim. Trouble will be that the Dems are self-destructing by appealing only to their urban base on the coasts and riverways. But voters, independent swing voters like myself, may not be numerous enough to vote out incumbent Reps like Ryan and McConnell. There's a lot more drama to come before next year's midterm elections. Way too soon to call it.

IMO, Trump is president to take care of SCOTUS, immigration, China, NK and take the US through bankruptcy.

If he can pull all that off without WW3 then he truly is a genius...He’s already making headway with SCOTUS.

He is there to do all the dirty work left by past administrations all the way back to Truman.

Without Trump there would have been no way to prevent world war...now at least we have a chance.

If Trump had no rinos in the congress then he would be way ahead of where he is now...kill the filibuster, build the wall, kill Obamacare, lower taxes.... these would already be done deals...if only :-/

I think Trump will accept DACA but with several provisos..

Any applicant must prove they have been here from childhood by providing documentation.

They must prove they have not accessed welfare after their 18th birthday.

They must have a clean criminal record.

etc, etc

Those provisions will certainly thin the herd, if the Dems object it puts them on the spot as supporting the legalization of criminals, welfare layabouts, cheaters who were not brought in as children..etc, etc

Trump could require the congress clean up the anchor baby nonsense as part of the deal. If the Dems object they are on record as placing the rights of non-existent future babies over living, breathing DACA folk... If the anchor baby rules are cleaned up people won’t flood in to have babies here anymore...so those future anchor babies will not ever exist.

The legalization deal should also require that the DACA applicants not break the law, not receive welfare, support themselves with a real job and be able to prove that...then after quite a few years they could get permanent resident status.

Working folk are more likely to vote Repub as opposed to welfare recipients who always vote Dem...so this will really piss off the dems.. :-)

Yup, If it happens that Trump is unable to drain the swamp then as a last resort he could let the states know that if they vote to leave the union he will not object.

I have long said that the only way the nation could split apart without bloodshed would be if it were done when a Republican was president and was with them.
