Amazon has been monitoring and deleting reviews after Hillary Clinton's new book was greeted with a torrent of criticism on the day it was released.
What Happened, which covers the former Secretary of State's unsuccessful election campaign against Donald Trump, was published on Tuesday. Clinton and her publisher Simon & Schuster claimed the book would offer a candid account of her failure and her own reflection on it.
Reviews of What Happened have been mixed, with some suggesting it Clinton uses it as an opportunity to blame others such as Bernie Sanders and Vladimir Putin for her failure, rather than herself. In The New York Times, which supported Clinton's campaign, Jennifer Senior writes that the book is "a score-settling jubilee".
The readers on Amazon, meanwhile, are even more divided but not all of them have read the book. The online retail giant has a "verified purchase" option to signpost whether reviewers have bought a product, and none of the 42 reviewers leaving comments on Tuesday had done so.
Few of the one-star reviews remain on the website, but reports and screen grabs show that reviewers used the space to criticize the former First Lady and spread conspiracy theories about her and Bill Clinton.
One one-star review, which remains on the website at the time of writing, reads: "Read all the promotional excerpts, which combined come close to book length pretty good novel. It is fiction, isn't it? Surely, someone is playing a joke."
Amazon is rarely moved to delete reviews so publicly, although in November negative comments under a book by anti-Trump broadcaster Megyn Kelly appeared to be removed by the retailer.

They did the same thing for Megyn Kelly’s book. They want to sell books and don’t want trouble with big time publishers. It stinks, but that’s it.
Reviews on any website are open to fraud. Fake positives, fake negatives, paid operatives...
It can take quite a while to read through and discern which may be of actual value. I have concluded that 1 stars and 5 stars can be simultaneously honest, even if the information is contraditory.
I figure it depends on whose made-in-China product was subject to a quality check, or made from proper materials, and whose weren’t. Same item, same factory, only different.
As for Hillary, who would read the Amazon reviews for anything besides entertainment? Only the already deluded (easily offended), who are there to purchase the book anyway.
Its been coordinated. The verified purchase reviewers have been waging a war against the one-star reviewers for their babe in the reviews for days.
If you already know it's fixed, why bother caring about these "reviews" in the first place? They are nothing more than mental masturbation for those who need them to justify their existance on the planet.
(walks away shaking head)
Amazon gives hillary a helping hand. twatter and farcebook delete anything that says the truth about the evil death cult called *slam. Whatever they hate, is the truth.
And a heavy percentage of the 5 star reviews admit they haven’t read it yet...........
“You” = me?
I don’t really GAF, except to note for this discussion that Amazon manipulates as many thought processes as possible with as much propaganda as is necessary to support the leftist agenda.
“Reviews” are somewhat helpful to me in that if I can divine the “reviewer”’s political bias, I generally know that anything at which a leftist freak can somewhat intelligently express him/herself as being for or against, I am very likely either against of for.
Should I be haughtily shaking my head, too?
Will you now have two types of reviews on all of your listen items, "tampered" and "true?" Will you tell us which we are reading? Thanks!
Please Hillary.. it's all over but the bull$hittin' that you're currently doing.
If it wasn’t for one star, she’d have no stars at all.
I have sort of lost interest in sports due to age. I’ll record a sporting event from time to time. I could care less about the loser even if it a team I root for. I won’t replay it. Why would someone buy a losers book when they can watch the replay on YouTube?
Love it!!!
