Hillary Clinton's new book about the 2016 presidential race titled What Happened went on sale Tuesday. In the long lead-up to its release, Clinton and her publisher Simon & Schuster promised that the book would be a candid account of the former secretary of state's dramatic election loss to Donald Trump and an honest reflection on what the experience has meant to her. Some book critics say Clinton's latest title delivers the kind of authenticity that she's lacked in the past. The New York Times' Jennifer Senior calls the book a "feminist manifesto," "a score-settling jubilee," and "worth reading." Others, meanwhile, fault Clinton for using the 464-page text to blame players like Bernie Sanders, James Comey, and Vladimir Putin for the election defeat, rather than taking responsibility herself. And then there are the decidedly less analytical reviews that are already populating the book's Amazon listing. Given the current political climate and the venomous nature of the 2016 race, it's probably no surprise that critics of Clinton have used one-star reviews to further communicate their dislike of the former first lady, or in some cases, peddle conspiracy theories about Clinton and husband Bill.

I myself wrote the following review which was deleted by Amazon: Wow what great, if dumb and embarrassing, book! I greatly enjoyed many parts, and there were times I couldn't keep from laughing. I honestly wish this book would have been published before the election, because we got some great quotes: First of all, can you imagine Trump losing an election and then writing about doing YOGA do overcome the loss? "Friends advised me on the power of Xanax and raved about their amazing therapists. Doctors told me theyd never prescribed so many antidepressants in their lives. But that wasnt for me. Never has been. Instead, I did yoga with my instructor." (from the chapter "Grit and Gratitude") Thank God we have a man in the white house instead of this wimp! Also, Hillary Clinton's anti-bullying program: "Many kids asked what I would do about bullying, which made me want to become President even more. I had an initiative called Better Than Bullying ready to go." Pity she didn't reveal that before the election. #BetterThanBullying would have been a great meme. (Hey, Hillary, know what's #BetterThanBullying? Winning.) But the absolute cake-taker is the following quote, right after calling the Access Hollyood tape as "bragging about sexual assault" referring to Bill's rape: "To divert attention from his own ugliness, Trump brought to our second debate three women who had accused my husband of bad acts decades ago, plus a woman whose accused rapist I had been ordered by a judge to represent back in Arkansas. It was an awful stunt." Really???? Trumps' locker room talk is "sexual assault" but Billy's rape is "bad acts". "Bad acts" sounds like a kindergartner who wet his pants. No, Hillary, rape is not "bad acts". it's rape. I particularly liked the part "decades ago". I guess Hillary supports a statute of limitations for rape. Thank God we have a president in office who supports women's rights, particularly the right not to get raped by illegal aliens. Then she writes: "I dont know what the Trump campaign was hoping to accomplish [by bringing the women that Bill raped to the debate] other than the obvious." Uh, I know Hillary. He wanted to show your a big fat hypocrite. I guess you ain't that bright Hillary. As far as the book is concerned it is a pretty good read. But the vast majority of it is "Fake News"!

Amazon should routinely delete comments from people who haven’t read the book that’s being reviewed. Not just in this case but in all cases. I hate reading one-star reviews by people complaining that Prime delivery took three days or that the Kindle price is too high. It’s unfair to authors and deters potential readers.

Jeff Bezos is evil, and Trump REALLY needs to take an anti-trust hammer to his Evil Empire.

Just like throwing away meaningful statues. It means nothing. History is history. And she will always be remembered by thinking people as being ignorant, stupid and evil.

Bet they have software that looks for the words “Bill’s rape” and deletes the post. Somebody try it. Do an innocuous review, with those words, and see what happens.

I actually think that’s what is going on here. I went to Hillary’s “What Happened” book site the other day, and there were many negative reviews. But the book wasn’t even out yet.
I have no problem with Amazon deleting those phony negative reviews - as long as they deleted the phony positive ones as well.

You joined today to post an amazon review that was taken down?
Hate to tell you, nobody’s going to read that without formatting.

Sorry, gonna dissent here. If a person didn’t read the book that person shouldn’t post a review. Animus toward the author doesn’t matter, there are plenty of other places to express that. Amazon is entirely correct to delete these reviews.

Are the thousands of reviews about explosive diarreha from sugar free gummy bears genuine?
Should Amazonglobal be politically selective in determining which reviews to purge?

I also hate reading a Blu-ray movie review that's titled "glad this classic is finally available on VHS".

Don’t take offense against those complaining about your lack of paragraphs.
You are a newbie, and you won’t forget paragraphs next time :-)
Pretty much everyone has dome that once or twice.
