The resolution is designed to accomplish six major goals: cap North Koreas oil imports, ban textile exports, end additional overseas laborer contracts, suppress smuggling efforts, stop joint ventures with other nations and sanction designated North Korean government entities, according to a US official familiar with negotiations.
...
The Reuters news agency reported Monday that the sanctions had been softened to appease China and Russia, citing diplomats.
Ahead of the vote, North Korea warned the United States that it would pay a due price if harsh sanctions were passed by the Security Council.
North Koreas Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on state media that if the US does rig up the illegal and unlawful resolution,' it would respond in kind.

Yeah, like that’ll work with the Nork’s like restraining orders work. Paper and rhetoric is all it is.
“The resolution is designed to accomplish six major goals: cap North Koreas oil imports, ban textile exports, end additional overseas laborer contracts, suppress smuggling efforts, stop joint ventures with other nations and sanction designated North Korean government entities”
Sounds weak. “CAP” their oil imports? How about STOPPING their oil imports?
End “ADDITIONAL” labor contracts? How about cancelling current ones?
And NK exports products through China, marking them “made in China”;
so a ban on NK products doesn’t mean much.
Little Fatum bomb to fall tomorrow! LOL
And the UN is STILL giving them food.
“You’re bweaking my bawls, Hans, you’re bweaking my bawls!”
I say we ship them some of our excess plutonium and uranium in a fast-acting package.
Yeah. It, like most UN actions, doesn’t touch the “underground” economy which for North Korea is bigger than the aboveboard economy.
LOL!!!
Yeah, damn right I’m cynical.
Now, THAT’s just creepy! That book scared the heck outta me!
Of course, Ima steal it! :)

So, whats he going to do? Ban the import of foreign booze, movies, caviar, and porn? Hardly,
“The Reuters news agency reported Monday that the sanctions had been softened to appease China and Russia ...”
And why in the hell is that?
eff them if they don’t stop Kim Jong Insane.
Enforced with a naval blockade?
Enforced with a sternly worded letter.
It is a waste of time to get UN agreements just to say we got an agreement, when there is not enough meat on the bone to have the effects the agreement is being sold as having.
Oil imports - need to be stopped, not capped
Overseas labor contracts - cancelled and not permitted, not merely restrained to existing ones
What is really needed - an end to trade, by all nations, of any kind with North Korea.
Ive dealt with Koreans at many levels, military and business, enough to get behind their facade to get to understand that they think differently.
They are an insular people and consider themselves superior to all other peoples. If you are their friend, or useful to them in some way, you cant do better. If you or those you affiliate have oppressed one of them in any way, they are a permanent enemy, to the death.
They consider fair and honorable, any agreement that can be negotiated today, in the moment. Whatever was agreed to, at whatever cost or value, previously, is irrelevant.
They hate, in this order: Japan, China, and lastly, all Western Powers (equally).
They will never peacefully give up any weapon, nuclear, missiles, or otherwise.
Some years ago, due to blight and crop failure, about 10% of NK starved to death.... They did not complain or beg. In fact, the bags of rice that we gave them, labeled From America, they spray painted on another word above in Korean that said Tribute.
Our threats are nothing to them.
