Republicans could lose U.S. House in 2018 over immigration fight: Bannon
Reuters MSN ^ | September 10, 2017

Republican infighting over the fate of immigrants brought illegally to the United States as children could be so vitriolic that the party loses control of the U.S. House of Representatives next year, Steve Bannon, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, said in an interview airing on Sunday.

Bannon, whose far-right views on immigration, climate and trade helped shape Trump's presidential campaign and his first months in office, was fired by the Republican president last month in a push to end factional fights within the White House.

In an interview with the CBS program "60 Minutes," Bannon predicted Republicans could lose control in the House in the 2018 congressional elections because of a looming battle over what to do about 800,000 immigrants known as "Dreamers."

Bannon assumes the GOP Congress is actually going to do anything about these DACA immigrants. They'd be better off just leaving the issue alone and letting the Justice Department enforce the existing laws.

Politically, the worst thing the Republicans in Congress could do is successfully pass legislation to deal with 800,000 people living in this country illegally ... while at the same time tens of millions of U.S. citizens are still dealing with this ObamaCare abomination the GOP failed to fix even after years of promising to do something about it.

Too early?

The GOP Congress is a bunch of RINO sellouts... we should be making plans NOW to toss them all on their keisters.

Trump has already indicated his willingness to compromise on the issue by challenging the pubs to put out a bill. Even during the campaign Trump sounded like he would compromise on the issue. He did the right thing though in getting rid of the illegal EO.

Most Republicans will not go to the mat on the issue. Not sure what Bannon is talking about.

I really wish Bannon would STFU.

I don't! I wish he could shout his message from the mountaintops uninterrupted. If the GOP looses the House in 2018, IT WILL BE BECAUSE OF THE RINOS IN THE F__KING SWAMP!

I really don’t think it matters much which nominal party is in the majority in the House. They all answer to Nancy Pelosi, anyway.

If a lot of RINO’s got ousted with more conservative candidates in the primaries, I’m all for that.

I don’t believe Bannon on this. People here illegally are here illegally and should be dealt with. Although, I am noticing on many of our local media outlets, is they are trotting out illegal victim after illegal victim trying to get sympathy for these illegals.

It looks like the media, both local and national, got their marching orders to trot out these illegal victims. I hope the American people don’t fall for their deceptions or Bannon could be correct. Many Americans don’t trust the medias so I hope it backfires on them.

You obviously have never listened to Bannon.

It was he who defined the Trump presidential run. He was host of Breitbart News on Sirius XM Patriot 125 from 6-9. That show completely changed how voters viewed Washington and a lot of light bulbs clicked.

The Hegelian construct of a left vs right political division constructed by the progressive Left is no more. It is American sovereignty/nationalism vs global socialism. That is why Bannon is being interviewed, why he's in talks to head up his own TV news network, and why Trump is where he is. Bannon is this generation's Rush Limbaugh.

And replace them with a new bunch of RINO sellouts. When the new enthusiastic conservatives get to Washington and find out the dollar difference between principle and going along almost all will go along.

It you live in a congressional district that has a GOP congressputzer, you should consider confronting your GOP congressputzer with the question: “we all know you will lose your congressional seat in the upcoming election if you vote in favor of the illegal aliens. Has anyone offered a job or a golden parachute in exchange for your pro-illegal-alien vote if you do lose your upcoming election?”

When are people going to realize that the GOP really does not care? The GOP would RATHER be in the minority where they can bitch and moan and put on their acts for the electorate without actually having to do anything. Obamacare repeal is Exhibit A in this case. How many times did they pass an Obamacare repeal when they know it would never go anywhere and now they mysteriously can’t do the same when they can actual implement it? They have proven themselves to be beyond redemption and deserve to lose. As wrong as the Democrats are, they do get their agendas through. The GOP is stuck with corrupt, greedy, do nothings.

I suspect Bannon has Trump's blessing.

Preach it, Bannon!

They don’t get offers for specific votes. They get hints that they will be eased or kicked off the gravy train if they don’t go along with the program. Congress is not a useful institution for the nation and cannot be returned to usefulness. Our side does not have the resources to offer what the globalists can give out of petty cash and that is the only way remaining to influence how a congressman votes.

Exactly!

2010: Give us the House and we’ll get things done!
We gave them the House.
2012: Give us the Senate and we’ll get things done!
We gave them the Senate.
2016: Give us the White House and we’ll get things done!
We gave them the White House.

9 months later and they have given us NOTHING. Totally worthless creatures with no spines or stones.

That’s not the only reason. They simply can’t get anything done. Blaming
Ryan for lack of leadership is convenient and true, but there is more to it than that.
