Why Trump hopes the new Trump sticks
Axios ^ | September 9, 2017 | Mike Allen

A Trump adviser says that after a tumultuous seven months in office, it had finally dawned on the president: "People really f@&@ing hate me." For someone who has spent his life lapping up adulation, however fake, it was a harsh realization. This is a man with an especially acute need for affirmation.

This week's bear hug of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer opened Trump's eyes to one solution: Stop doing things that people hate, and start striking deals.

Who knows if this will stick. But there's reason to think it might, according to Trump's friends and aides. Here's why, based on conversations Jonathan Swan and I had in the aftermath of the surprising deal:

He can blame Republicans for his troubles. Trump has convinced himself he was duped by GOP leaders into repealing health care and blowing his first seven months on a fool's errand. If he can strike a few deals, he can reshape history to make the party — not himself — the culprit.

He can please the kids and New Yorkers. With the banishment of Bannon and his allies, Trump is left with a largely moderate to Democratic staff.

A senior administration official said of Trump's deal with Chuck and Nancy: "He just wanted to do something popular." He's reveling in the coverage, including lavish praise from "Morning Joe."

He can spend money, not take it away. Trump hates complex topics and gravitates to things you can build, such as planes or new infrastructure projects.

Remember he told Republican senators the House healthcare bill was "one mean sonofabitch." He said he wanted the Senate version to be much more generous, with no worry about cost.

One senator recalled Trump saying: "We're going to have so much ... economic growth, that we'll have so much money — more than you imagine."

He can liberate himself. He feels boxed in inside the White House and felt handcuffed to GOP leaders. No more. He had it with McConnell — thinks he's past his prime, no longer capable of leading. Considers him low-energy. He has much more natural rapport with Schumer, a friend from the New York days.

I know Axios is far from conservative, but there sources have generally been dead on. I will just reiterate what I said in another thread:

I notice Trump is getting more favorable press all of a sudden, and that may be alluring, but SURELY he knows he would have had that favorable press all during the campaign and early part of his Presidency had he either ran as a Democrat during the campaign or had he governed as a RINO since he got in. He didn't do that. I hope he's not changing. Trump drew massive crowds, flipped Dem states, and won the election because people didn't want a Democrat or a conventional Republican. Most voters were Republican and loved that he was willing to stand up to the GOP establishment (that may be what he is doing now but I feel uneasy with this). They loved that he was willing to say the things Republicans wouldn't say - fight the media and the establishment, and they loved him/love him for taking the slings and arrows for it. If Trump ever started working with the Democrats in a way that advanced a Democrat platform (he's now talking about eliminating the debt ceiling with Chuck Schumer), the Democrat base will never like him and will put their own Sanders or Harris in in 2020. The Republicans, however, will not like him so much either and vote for him.

The most disheartening part of this article, of course, to me, is where it says, "He can please the kids and New Yorker." It says he is left with a largely moderate/Dem staff. This is true. I am not happy with the fact that so many Trump supporters are on the outside looking in and so many moderates made their way in.

Look, I know the GOP has screwed him over, but we see that, the voters see it. I don't think the answer is to give the Democrats effective power because then people will put Democrats in instead because they get things done. Doing it in the short term might send a message, but in the long term? Not good. His best bet is to keep exposing the feckless GOP and primary candidates will arise.

The bottom line - Trump didn't get elected for good press. If we wanted that, we would have put in Hillary or Kasich. Trump got elected in part because he's willing to fight the bias in the press.

He’s not doing this for adulation. He’s doing it to save our country.

At least Brietbart was astute enough to realize this might be a big “gamesmanship” move.

Whose side are you on, Pinkbell? Mike Allen is the cofounder of Politico. He’s a radical Leftist who hates conservatives and hates Trump. If I wanted to see these kinds of headlines I’d go to a moonbat site. Since when has a radical Leftist ever been right about Trump? Cite just one example, please.

I read part of this screed. Just enough to know the author is obviously a typical liberal with the highest of undeserved self esteem.

Trump will not betray people like Jamiel Shaw and similar families. He just won't.

Remember, President Trump does not like to telegraphic his Trump cards, so to speak. He acknowledges his successes, but he is learning to go into stealth mode to work around Romney's minions and even more so the biggest Anti-Trumper - McCain.

The Trump administration on Thursday announced it has chosen four companies to build concrete prototypes of the president's much-touted ...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/08/31/trump-officials-pick-four-companies-that-will-build-prototypes-of-border-wall/

Supposedly, McCain has never been to the Whitehouse since Trump became President. Additionally, McCain visited the Whitehouse more when O was in office over W. McCain is a stealth Democrat posing as a Republican. McCain is attempting the coup. To the point that McCain sent his person to London to pick up the fake Trump dossier AND deliver it to Comey. McCain is a democrat and is about to get exposed for his attempt to take out a sitting President.

The spotlight needs to continue to shine on McCain's jealousy and evil deeds. That's why Trump working with McCain's besties Nancy and Chuch is even more classic Trump.

Sen. John McCain is at it again! Sen. McCain recently wrote a scathing column for the Washington Post attacking President Donald Trump as “poorly informed” and “impulsive.” McCain stated, “We are not his subordinates. … we don’t answer to him.” The Arizona senator also called for compromise on a litany of important items, including on Trump’s campaign promise to build a “big, beautiful wall.” McCain wrote that “a literal wall might not be the most effective means” to secure the border. Instead, he wants a “comprehensive” bill Democrats can get behind. John McCain is losing it! Or, perhaps this is the real McCain finally coming out. During his 30 years in the Senate, McCain has fooled the public and pretended to be a conservative Republican. The fake news media have depicted him as a “maverick” who isn’t afraid to stand up to his own party. But McCain has always been a RINO, and he is not an honorable man. The election of President Trump is exposing his true nature and lack of character.

Ha! We're good.

Chuck and Nancy vs Ryan and McConnell

Chuck and Nancy openly go against Trump but are willing to work with him.

Ryan and McConnell openly fake working with him and are HARD CORE Against working with him. Trump's eyes are wide open now.

Ryan and McConnell are Anti-Trumpers. Always have been and always will be. Mind you, neither of them could EVER win a Presidential election. Same with John McCain, he couldnt win a Presidential election. They are just jealous and elitists. They only made money as Federal employees. They are very jealous and want to take Trump down because he won and they never did and never could. They are all unlikeable.
