Prosecutors in Salt Lake County, Utah, have asked the FBI to join a criminal probe into the violent arrest of a local nurse who was manhandled by a detective and shoved screaming into a squad car as she tried to protect the legal rights of a patient.
In a letter made public Thursday, District Attorney Sim Gill called on FBI agents to investigate whether the arresting officer or anyone else in the chain of command violated nurse Alex Wubbelss civil rights or broke other laws during the July 26 incident.

Give it a rest. Not every mistake or bad action requires a full investigation by the feds.
Suspend and retrain the cop, give the nurse a heartfelt apology and move on.
Apparently this cop has had ‘authoritarian’ problems before.......................
>Suspend and retrain the cop, give the nurse a heartfelt apology and move on.<
That’s been the problem...the slap on the wrist.
Not all, obviously, but too many cops violate civil rights everyday and get away with it.
Sh!t needs to be stopped.
Then fire him, or charge him with assault, but I’m sick of people calling for federal involvement in everything
And his boss should be fired as well. Maybe if the supervisors were held responsible for the actions of their troops stuff would change.
A clear false arrest and violation of her civil rights. I am not moving on.
What happened to that poor woman, who was just doing her job, was shameful. That despicable cop needs to be punished. (I am generally supportive of our noble police, but the bad apples must be rooted out).
The call was made by the local prosecutor for some odd reason.
Perhaps there’s more to this than meets the eye.
The cop may have big political connections so he can’t be touched by local authorities without retribution coming down from above.
Or maybe this cop is a known border-line psychotic and they are afraid of him.
In any case it seems odd that a local DA is asking for FBI help on such a simple thing as this...................
Nothing's going to get fixed unless the penalty is dismissal, and barring the offender from ever working as a police officer anywhere, ever.
Exactly! 18 USC 242
This wasn’t a mistake. It was an attempt by the local police to cover themselves for improper procedures used in the chase that led to the truck driver being severly injured. The supervisor should be fired at a minimum and the officer at the hospital proscecuted for assualt and battery.
The call for help indicates a cover-up.
And prison time for the miscreants upon conviction.
Boy, that certainly didn’t take long. The 2nd post was from a “licker”. WOW Do they have radar or what?

I hear they do wonderful work in returning people to the real world.
Give it a rest.
Some people have a temperament incompatible with being allowed a position of authority.
I don’t care how much you like your little la la land where everyone who does something violent says “I’m sorry” and all is forgiven, Pollyanna that’s not appropriate here.
The guy has to be removed from police work permanently, and that means the legal process.
Grow up.
Sorry but you don’t retrain a detective in his late forties. You fire him. This isn’t a rookie cop. The guy was totally out of control.
That cop was hell bent on getting that blood. Why? He was probably under orders from his superiors. Why?
Something smells. The entire department may be corrupt. They may have a history of messing with evidence and the local DA knows it.
My thoughts exactly.
