DEVELOPING News Hurricane Irma Sep 8 2017, 2:54 am ET Hurricane Irma Pummels Turks & Caicos as Bahamas Braces
by Rehema Ellis, Adam Reiss and Erik Ortiz
The eye of Hurricane Irma grazed the low-lying Turks & Caicos Islands on Thursday, rattling buildings after it smashed a string of Caribbean islands on its way to Florida.
With winds of around 185 mph, the storm the size of France has ravaged small islands in the northeast Caribbean in recent days, including Barbuda, St. Martin and the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, ripping down trees and flattening homes and hospitals.
Winds dipped on Thursday to 165 mph as Irma soaked the northern coasts of the Dominican Republic and Haiti and brought hurricane-force winds to the Turks & Caicos Islands.

I saw a video from a Dutch military plane over St. Martin, post Irma. It seemed a lot of structures were still standing, but badly damaged.
One thing I noticed was that some large hotels, evidently with concrete floors and dividing walls, seemed to be just gutted, as though the wind blew out the windows and swept the interior bare. Maybe I got this wrong, but that’s the impression I got. Very scary.
Carl Rove gave the keys to the Hurricane machine to President Trump.
It’s Bush’s fault!
Trump’s fault !
Can you imagine if Irma threaded the needle between Florida and Cuba, kept going straight into the Gulf of Mexico where it would pick up energy and water from the warm waters of the Gulf, then kept going straight to the Houston area where it would unleash its Cat 5 fury on a barely drying out and tired area?
Highly unlikely but then so is the Cat 3 storm coming right behind it hitting islands already devastated by Irma.
The pressure systems around Irma are what are going to guide it. Looks like she’s boogieing up the peninsula. Both coasts in big trouble.
Amen. Second it.
Prayer said!
Dear Lord please have mercy.
Most of the wickedness of Florida is in the far southern end. What if two or three high pressure systems gripped Irma like they did Harvey — and then Jose pulls her way out to sea?
I hear I-75 is a parking lot with people already running out of gas on it. Lots of not-too-smart people out there.
I foresee thousands going through the hurricane sitting in their cars trying to head north way too late.......
While watching footage, I didn’t notice hurricane shutters on the hotel windows either.
Irma is beautiful in her own wicked ways!
I always believe, in areas where flooding is often a serious potential, that officials waiting to either suggest or demand evacuation is silly at best and wrong at worst.
People in those circumstances should get out of the way and the earlier the better. It only gets worse as everyone waits until finally some dumb official says they must evacuate, and then no one can ‘cause they’re all trying to do it at the same time.
To be clear, if flooding was not that likely in the case of my location, and if I had a good idea my building with its roof would hold, I would not evacuate only for the wind.
Eventually a lot of people are going to be killed on an interstate when a storm catches them in bad positions. And then the gubermint morons (and their presstitutes) will have to rethink their irresponsible whipping the masses into a "we are all going to die" scenario.
Snowbird buddy gathered up valuables stored in his mobile home in Broward county (Palm Beach) loaded in his pickup and bring them up north Thursday noon has been stuck in traffic and unable to get get gas. For the laterst in Irma’s movements try
