Even though they are Mexicans, I still send my prayers their way.
I would be in Merida MX, about as far from the vacation beaches as is possible to get, about as close to the middle of the jungles (and heat-humidity-mosquitoes-daily rain storms) as is possible to get.

We used to vacation at Ixtapa back when we lived in Minnesota. Board the airplane at 15 below zero. Three hours later, 85 degrees warm.
We visited Huatulco when there was just one hotel on the beach. Good food. Clean beach but nothing to do otherwise, so we asked the hotel mgr for suggestions.
He got us on a spotless Air Liberdat DC-3 and flew us to Oaxaca city. Very neat, old historic city.

I have a business chum in Puebla who is well known in the community and has invited us down for a week or two. He and his wife have a vacation house in Puerto Vallarta that looks very cool.

One of the neat events we saw was the Friday night dating ritual for teenagers. While adults looked on from an open air restaurant, the boys would walk around the plaza counter-clockwise while the ladies walked clockwise. Every few minutes, one of the girls would run over to her boyfriend and hand him a note. Ditto one of the boys.
Very old Spanish tradition...
It even shook up the town's name...
"The earth want to say something. LISTEN!!"

Drowning polar bear spotted in Death Valley. And suffering from severe dehydration at the same time.
‘Then it started getting bad and we stopped going.’
