Her Playbill bio is longer than that of some of her co-stars. Then again, shes had a helluva life, having narrowly escaped death row.
Now, after three years on the road with Annie, Macy, a 9-year-old mixed terrier, is making her off-Broadway debut. In For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday, which opens Wednesday at Mainstage Theater, shes billed simply as a dog. (Talk about typecasting.) One of her more significant bits of stage business involves gobbling up some dropped cereal.
All told, its a long way from Oklahoma, where animal trainer Bill Berloni found Macy in December 2009.

It would have been difficult to find a young actor that could handle the rigors of a extended stage production. So they cast adult women with slight frames.
Peter Pan is almost always played by a female onstage. I had always thought that it was because he’s perceived as a sort of ‘elfin’ personality, and having a female play the part suited; but there are other, traditional reasons:
