Dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Irma had a devastating impact on islands in the Caribbean.
Hurricane and Storm surge watches were issued Thursday morning for South Florida. The Florida Keys began evacuating visitors and residents, followed by flood zones in Miami and Miami Beach. Sarasota FL declared a local state of emergency Thursday morning.
Polk County FL Sheriff Grady Judd said Wednesday that law enforcement authorities would check the identities of people who turn up at shelters--and take to jail anyone found to have an active arrest warrant. If you go to a shelter for Irma and you have a warrant, well gladly escort you to the safe and secure shelter called the Polk County Jail... If you have a warrant, turn yourself in to the jail its a secure shelter. Judd also posted that sex offenders and sex predators would not be admitted to the shelters. "We cannot and we will not have innocent children in a shelter with sexual offenders & predators. Period." Judd's statements unleashed a liberal firestorm via Twitter.

At least drought will not be a problem.
I bought my house in 2011. There are Trees on the property still bent from the heavy winds. I also have a small patch of my property that is just typical Florida overgrowth. The owner tells me that Andrew totally cleared that area out.
Check out the turn Donna made in 1960
sister just bought her snowbird mobile home in Ocala....

If you know of anyone looking for a place to go after evacuating I have a friend who has a nice camp with cabins on the SC/NC line. There are around 60 beds left and they are first come first serve.
If you are traveling on I-85, it is 25 minutes north on HWY 221. If you are traveling on I-26, they are 30 minutes east.
You’ll have a free bed, shower, and food for all seeking refuge from Irma.
To contact the camp call (864)320-4844. You can see some of the camp here Camp McDaniel.
They would be smart to....manage the grid that way......
I think they did get out....
BTW did you see how much larger the eye is?.....It’s going to be interesting to see what happens when this hits the warm waters.....
Breitbart is hardly an originator who originated the info.?
What exactly has Congress done? You are so right, Jeb! is a jerk! (My apologies for injecting politics to the thread.)
Amen. I have seen countless posts with three crude lines curving through the FL Peninsula. Next day, they would move, while everyone reported Bastardi's predictions are SOOOO much better and on-target than the forecast models and NHC.
Next, Bastardi's three crude curved lines would move again. See! He was right again! One of his three lines is closer to where it would/could/should be than the last prediction.
Eeeesh. Looks like some hocus pocus illusion to me. Guess which nutshell hides the bean.
Hurricane Georges tracked on a somewhat similar path, with models putting it on a direct path towards Marco Island. Never made the sharp turn, made landfall near NOLA.
Hurricane Donna did make such a turn in 1960, though.
I’ll only link Georges’ and Donna’s tracks as to not confuse current models.

Jose is not playing by the rules. He should have been heading north by now...
Exactly. I had a gut feeling from the beginning that this thing was going to go west.
Note the storm formation following Jose in that graphic.......may very well be another hurricane forming there....
I did. Donna bypassed Cuba and still hit the Southern/SW part of FL and cut north/northeast through FL. Other than the rains it didn't touch Miami-Dade or went up the gut of FL.
Irma is hitting the Northern Coast of Cuba and will definitely clip the Southern/SW part of FL. The models show it completely drenching FL and destroying the entire state. I just don't see it happening. Never happened in the history of recorded Hurricanes.
You got peeps in Southern AL/MS better tell them to get prepared NOW.
She is gonna make first major landfall in Cuba. Wow. She had to turn north by now to swing out early and miss Florida. Now she will be affected by Cuba. Tough to be them.
I think Cavuto has turned into a herd animal. RINO herd, that is.
....”Jose is not playing by the rules”....
Take a look at ‘Jose’s little sister’ following in that storm organizing there...
There’s a low pressure system coming down from Canada that’s supposed to suck Irma north, thus the turn to the north we’ve all been waiting for.
If that low pressure system arrives later than projected, Irma could very well continue her trek west over Cuba, hopefully losing a lot of steam in the process.
When the low pressure system belatedly arrives, hopefully Irma will be substantially weakened and beyond Florida, and will get sucked north so fast she won’t have time to re-strengthen.
