The victims of Hurricane Harvey have a murderer - and its not the storm.
The horrors hurled at Houston and the Himalayan lowlands in late August were heartbreaking - but also infuriating. How many times must we see this disaster movie - titled Hurricane Harvey in 2017 - before we intervene and change the ending? And how long before we hold the ultimate authors of such climate catastrophes accountable for the miseries they inflict?
What makes this so infuriating is that it shouldnt be happening. Experts have warned for decades that global warming would increase these sorts of weather extremes and that people would suffer and die if protective measures were not implemented.
Yet Donald Trump and other powerful know-nothings in Washington seem perversely determined to ignore the lessons of Harvey, while doubling down on making things worse. Trump has crammed his administration full of climate-change deniers while pushing full steam ahead on more oil, gas, and coal production.
It is past time to call out Trump and all climate deniers for this crime against humanity. No more treating climate denial like an honest difference of opinion.
Now, the individuals and institutions pushing climate denial must be called out with even greater vigor.
The first step toward justice is to call things by their true names. Murder is murder, whether the murderers admit it or not. Punish it as such, or we encourage more of the same.

“One trick pony, one trick is all that horse can do...”
Please, commies, science is not your friend.
Actually, nothing much is.
No hurricanes hit the U.S. mainland for a decade until this year. They establish this argument regardless of the events.
My Freepers,
You cannot fix it
Nope
Stupid cant be fixed.
Freegards
Mark Hertsgaard, science denier and total flaming idiot.
In short: if you do not agree with the author, then you are a criminal worthy of punishment. How very totalitarian of him.
Another ism I have to worry about...
NOT
Is it weather extremes or is it rising oceans?
Didn’t Obama say you’d be able to see the oceans recede on his watch?
Opening the dams didn’t help out people downstream who survived the rains but not the subsequent floods.
Some of it is man-made disaster by the powers that be. Some communities were more sacred than others.
There could be more efforts taken to construct drainage systems to handle very heavy rains. But if you play the odds, it’s only 1-in-100 chance that your “new” sub-division will be affected.
Ditto re whoever's paying him for such drivel.
I still prefer pictures of Goebbels, though. :-)
I remember a few years ago, when people were starting to notice that we were not having many hurricanes, and thinking to myself, “When we get used to not having them, when one DOES come, you can bet the AlGores will proclaim proof of human caused global warming.
It’s comical. If all we had was the MSM they would be winning. Now they are a laughing stock.
Ok I agree stop the hurricane. LOL

At best you have negligent homicide.
Even the campaigners never went after Big Tobacco for murder (which would’ve been more “assisted suicide” than anything else).
All those years without hurricanes didn’t prove anything, but one year with hurricanes proves “climate change.”
Just like cold weather is just weather, but hot weather is climate.
If you are a “denier” you’ll have to pay your jizza tax to the Church of Albert Gore Jr., you sinner you.
WOW!!!
You talk about unhinged and deranged, I sure hope the Corrupt FBI is keeping tabs on this lunatic.
The hurricane elves were hiding from the heat until they could bear to refrain no more?
