The Trump administration on Tuesday announced the “orderly wind down” of the Obama-era program that gave a deportation reprieve to illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children – putting pressure on Congress to come up with a replacement.
“I do not favor punishing children, most of whom are now adults, for the actions of their parents. But we must also recognize that we are a nation of opportunity because we are a nation of laws,” President Trump said, in a lengthy written statement explaining the decision.
The Department of Homeland Security formally rescinded the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA, with a six-month delay for current recipients. According to Acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke, the interval is meant to give Congress “time to deliver on appropriate legislative solutions.”
“However, I want to be clear that no new initial requests or associated applications filed after today will be acted on,” Duke said in a written statement.

It isn’t DACA. There is zero intent to ever deal with them. So it isn’t “deferred”. It is cancelled action on childhood arrivals.

Also, all this hysteria that it MUST be addressed immediately. I remember a LOT of Americans needing Obamacare dealt with immediately.
Actually we need to put this fire to Congress’ feet on EVERYTHING.

I maintain GOPe gave Obama the go-ahead on DACA after Dave Brat ruined the Gang of 8 bill. They couldn’t get something through on their own so they worked with Obama.

In spite of the spin from the right (Breitbart) and the left, (CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, Washington Post, etc) the conservatives in my household are very happy over this. President Trump is ending the unconstitutional executive order by Barack Obama and is returning the constitutional authority back to Congress in the creation of our immigration laws.
He is implementing a common sense approach regarding those, who through no fault of their own, were brought here or who were born here as children to go through the system. You don't allow people to live in a country for a lifetime and then suddenly decide to enforce the immigration laws.
If you're going to blame somebody, blame the past two administrations who REFUSED to enforce our immigration laws in the first place. This also forces the Congress to do their constitutionally mandated job that they were elected to do and to show their true colors on where they stand on this issue.
The left will try and spin this as heartless, but what is heartless is leaving these people in limbo as to whether or not DACA will be renewed and ignoring the rule of law.
Defund/defang/vote out the undocumented Democrat traitors in Congress!
