The Western US is facing cataclysmic forest fires, at least one started by idiot boys throwing fireworks in Eagle Creek area, near Multnomah Lodge, in the COLUMBIA GORGE - a greenie paradise. I-84 is closed near Multnomah Files to Exit 62, just west of Hood River.

Same here. Indoors/AC. Smoke’s so bad we can’t see across the canyon to Bear Country. We have local fires to west and south of us. Been that way for days now. No rain soon.
Stay safe.
CHETCO Fire has grown to over 150,000 acres (Southern Oregon)...more evacuations are going on. Illinois Valley on Level 3 evac I believe, and they’ve been told no new resources available to help.
We’re getting some pretty good haze here in central New Mexico from large fires in CA. Wasn’t sure what it was at first, as the last time it was like this, we could actually smell the smoke in the air, but there’s no smell, just the haze.
Visibility here in Grand Junction is about the same. The Mesa County health department has issued a warning to seniors and others who may be sensitive to bad air to avoid exertion.
Thanks for the post; ping, LucyT. Very interesting thread. Thanks to all posters. GREAT thread BUMP!
Prayers for all involved.
I-84 which is closed is a MAJOR highway through the Columbia Gorge. Hwy 30 is closed, also, and there are limits on traffic on the Washington side of the Gorge also.
make sure you path out is clear.
Just finding this thread. IV Evac Level 3 just for a few small holdings on the other side of the Illinois River, that are near national forest. Half of Illinois Valley (west side of 199) is Level 1. Nasty smoke, the last 2 days the worst.
Inciweb has sort of better news for the next few days, RH will be up.

Are you being affected by smoke or danger of fire?
I’m in Salem....we have smoke, haze, but nothing like others south of us. I don’t think a lot of people, however, understand the extreme fire activity in the West.
I tried getting this posted in breaking news...maybe you can get a mods attention.
The last week has been pretty much smoke-free, but there is a heavy pall here (88 miles NNE of Seattle) as of this morning. When the sun does show, it is an angry red, but it is completely obscured most of the time.
The temperature is being slightly moderated, but the air “feels” heavy. It’s only 77* @ 51% humidity, but it seems like 90*.
2656 square miles of the West are on fire.....
1.7 million acres EQUALS 2656 SQUARE MILES....ANYONE LISTENING????
“Colorado is smoke filled form these fires. Cant see the foothill from 3 miles out.”
I need that cleared up starting two weeks from today .
I only want to see pristine clean mountain air over Estes Park
Sorry, but Estes will be socked in as much as anyone.
We’re getting western State fires blowing lots of smoke our way.
I try to avoid mods’ attention.... ;-)
