The Western US is facing cataclysmic forest fires, at least one started by idiot boys throwing fireworks in Eagle Creek area, near Multnomah Lodge, in the COLUMBIA GORGE - a greenie paradise. I-84 is closed near Multnomah Files to Exit 62, just west of Hood River.

I got poison oak around 1979 near Pescadero, CA and it went systemic. Like you, I had to get cortisone shots to halt it. I can’t imagine the agony you were in! Ever since, I’ve been petrified of that plant when I’m hiking and it is all over Nor Cal.
Heading home now from Missoula to Tacoma. Smoke so bad yesterday it was like twilight all day. Very surreal. Just outside of Wallace Idaho and really getting thick. Snoqualmie pass will be interesting.
From SE of Portland in the foothills: no moon seen last night, red sun this morning. Did a sum of burnt acres yesterday in the State and it is approaching that of the Tillamook Burn in the 1930’s. My late mother recalled seeing the smoke from that fire in North Dakota back then. Looks like Woodsy Owl has become a burnt offering on the alter of environmentalism. Wait for the wailing and gnashing of teeth when the rains come and mess up salmon spawning beds. Watch the mud flow down when trees are no longer there to stop soil errossion. There is moisture coming up from the south later this week, but concerned that it will produce dry lightning. I don’t expect any serious rain til later this month.
In Spokane, smoke is dreadful. I can barely see a block away, and light coming through the windows is a sickly yellow. . Air quality is listed as HAZARDOUS. Here’s a link to WA/ID air quality reports, charts, etc

Oh so sorry....Thinking of you...
Where are your family working?
BUMP for your fire map...thanks
YES, what you said. The spotted owl was a ruse...the Barn Owl was killing off the Spotted owl...since that time lack of preventive fire practices in forests, caused by environmentalists is why we have these HUGE fires.
I would seriously doubt if you had a raging wildfire approaching your home in Oregon your attention would be on Tx or Florida.
Thanks for those links.
The US Forest Service was established by Congress after the catastrophic fires of 1910 destroyed thousands of acres, homes, and even entire towns in the Pacific NW. Their charter was to manage the forest resource to prevent this from ever happening again. Its happening again. This is the result when eco-Nazis take over the agency and they manage for preservation instead of utilization.
"Preservation????" If this is how we "preserve" forests the Eco Nazis need to be rounded up and...well...you know
Stay ready...and safe.
HAHAHAHA....a laugh helps.
That's one reason I thought this thread should be posted....mayhem is reining in some places in the west...needs focus also.

Could you put this thread in BREAKING NEWS, please.
The Forest Service was officially chartered in 1905, prior to the Great Fire of 1910, and it can trace its roots back to 1876. Several of our local forests had 100-year celebrations of the Forest Service in 2005.
Thanks for the correction.
CORRECTION: Forest Service was established in 1905 (before catastrophic fires of 1910)...
