North Korea openly threatens EMP attack for the first time, changing the game

BY ANTHONY FUREY, POSTMEDIA NETWORK

The news Sunday morning that North Korea had launched what appeared to be its sixth nuclear test and most powerful one to date is troubling enough.

But a statement from the rogue regime took things to a whole new level. The North said it had tested an H-bomb that was “a multi-functional thermonuclear nuke with great destructive power which can be detonated at high altitudes for super-powerful EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack according to strategic goals.”

This is the first time it has publicly mentioned its interest and ability in an EMP attack, a devastating weapon that could have catastrophic consequences for North America, the West and their closer neighbours.

An EMP attack, as I detail in my new book Pulse Attack, is a nuclear detonation that occurs in the atmosphere and creates a waveform that can take down the electrical grid below.

In the worst case scenario, this wouldn’t just shut off the power for minutes or hours, but weeks or even months, due to serious damage to transformer stations and other integral elements of our power infrastructure.

This wouldn’t just mean we couldn’t turn on our laptops and televisions; it would shut down our telecommunications, transportation, water systems, our ability to get food to cities and much more.

Thanks for posting that. We really need to chill some folks down over all of this.

Charge all batteries in the house immediately before power outages.

Fill all containers with water. Fill bathtub.

Take baths before you’re without water.

Pack the freezer with water to freeze to extend cold temps.

Get the grill and supplies ready so you’ll have something to cook on.

That little group, Muller, Comey, and I’m thinking Clinton too, are each in need of some deep checking as to what they’ve been up to.

HOT DAM ! .. you are good !
But you forgot life preservers - if you are close to the saltwater, or a river.
An axe if you get caught in your attic, without an exit during flooding
Copies of legal documents (birth certif./passport/credit cards/ cash/etc.) in a ziplock bag
A filled bathtub contains 25 gallons-to-340 gallons depending on size and contours - average hot water tank holds 30-50 gallons of fresh water
and the toilet refill tank holds 3-5 gallons, ~ but don't drink from the bowl !!
Good on Ya ! for the ice to extend the cold temps, but don't forget that our parents used to insulate with multiple layers of newspapers
Don't forget the gas for the grill ~ but if I want gas,.. I eat sauerkraut, .. and make apologies later,.. much later !
And re-charge your cellphone whenever possible (to reach out to someone not in your predicament) and establish contact with other family members/ or at a rally point.

Clintons, you got that right. If Dems applied the same standards to themselves that they do to Trump and company, I would think that Mueller would at least recuse himself.

Thanks for the reminder on the grill, well, a propane stove actually. If the natural gas line goes down I will need something more than my BBQ grill to fry up eggs or whatever. Was able to find a sturdy one-burner for about $60 on Amazon.

Agreed

The whole party is dirty, but you have to start somewhere.

"We’re stuck with nuclear NorKs. Thx Clinton, Bush 43 & Obama."

Let's be honest...thanks to every president going all the way back to Truman, for kicking the can down the road. Yes, I include President Reagan in that group. No one has done anything except appease the Norkies, until President Trump.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Understood - just pointing out that doing what we need to do, especially against one who has made gestures rather than actual attacks, will have complications involved. Many innocents will die and a lot of them are our allies/partners.

Like how Nikki addressed the UN (leave the periods out and it looks like part of little Kim's name....) yesterday. Trump is building the case that we are standing alone and are the main target in order to quell the political firestorms that China/Russia/Younameit are licking their chops to start if/when we "tenderize" the NORKs.

Truly is a rock/hard place situation and I believe Trump has the shoulders to handle it despite the 'fallout"....

Works fine; until you runout of gas.

A prepper would tell you a rocket stove might be a good thing to have around.

Good point. I’m not a true prepper really. I plan for up to 2 months without utilities and supplies. After that I’m screwed. If I can’t get food then even those Rocket stoves won’t help.

He has proven he has the bombs and the means to deliver them.

He has fired them over another nation, Japan. Some have said that was an act of war. I’m not sure about that, but it’s clear he has no regard for the sanctity of other nations.

We cannot wait any longer.

I agree with your take on Trump.

Will other people die? Perhaps. Will some of our people die? Perhaps. Will waiting make that better or worse?

We’re going to have to deal with this sooner or later.

I’d suggest we do it before he gets even stronger.

I agree that we can't just sit around. Trump and Nikki are doing their job and warning the world that our patience is thin. If/when he decides to strike, they will make a lot of noise but will have themselves to blame if they don't also apply as much pressure on the NORKs and the Chinese themselves. Putin's comment that little fat Kim should take a lesson from Saddam says he believes Trump is resolved.

Will be interesting either way - let's hope it doesn't spread and develop into a deal where we have to worry about China and Russia trying to seize an opportunity to "take us down a notch"....
