columbus’s expeditions lead to the continuous settlement of the western hemisphere by a superior culture that made the US the greatest nation ever. that’s the message.

Columbus Day isn’t about Italian immigrants.

It’s about the discovery of America by Europeans, which is a great thing.

If we hadn’t discovered it, the continent would still be empty, thinly populated by troglodyte tribes mainly descended from the Altai in Central Asia. They would not have advanced past their basic hunter gatherer “societies” as they were 4000 years behind the Europeans when we found them. 500 years of undisturbed time after 1492 would not have changed that.

Instead the most modern society on the planet exists in North America now, which could not have happened without Columbus’s expedition.

2 generations ago nobody disputed any of that.

No reason to now.

It’s ironic that “Hispanics” associate the exploitation of indians in the Caribean with “Italian-Americans” when it was other Hispanics who enslaved and murdered them.

Columbus was just an explorer.
