Time for a Full Investigation... of the FBI

What happens to a country whose most important police force — and its key investigators — is no longer telling the truth to the citizens of that nation? Nothing good, I'm sure most would agree. There's almost no point in going through all the analogies to despotic regimes. Writers from George Orwell to Arthur Koestler have already done it for us.

But those analogies come immediately to mind following two revelations regarding our Federal Bureau of Investigation that surfaced this week. In one instance, the FBI refused to turn over documents regarding the Hillary Clinton emails because of -- wait for it -- "lack of public interest."

The head of the FBI Records Management Division wrote Ty Clevenger, a New York Attorney who filed the FOIA request in March 2016, to inform him that his request was being denied in late August.

“You have not sufficiently demonstrated that the public’s interest in disclosure outweighs personal privacy interests of the subject,” the letter, obtained by Fox News, reads. “Therefore, records regarding your subject are withheld pursuant to FOIA exemptions.”

It's hard to imagine what was going on in the mind of Records Management Division head David M. Hardy when he wrote -- or was forced to write by some unknown superior -- such a risible lie, but things have only gotten worse from there. Now we learn that then FBI director James Comey may never have planned to find Clinton guilty in the first place.
While the transcripts of those interviews are heavily redacted, they indicate that Comey started working on an announcement clearing Clinton in April or May of last year, before the FBI interviewed 17 witnesses in the case, including Clinton and some of her top aides.

I’d shut down the FBI.

I’d stand up a new agency (refusing to hire any former FBI people) and I’d target the new agency at government corruption. Government chasing government. Target the swamp: that’s all they should do. And if they don’t jail anyone, they should face budget cuts.

The FBI needs an internal affairs dept with ex-sheriff David Clarke in charge.

Step 1 is to remove from government anyone who was hired by Obama. It is safe to assume that each and every individual hired by Obama is a left wing ideologue who considers his/her devotion to leftism far superior to any other consideration.

Investigate the FBI, yes but by Whom?

Who watches the watchmen themselves.

Let’s say you worked for an entity that succeeded in burning down a church *known* to be occupied by 100 worshippers, including almost 20 children.

assume further no one from that entity ever went to jail or was punished in any way:

wouldn’t that maybe be **a little** embolden and..? maybe yeah you would start to act like the law didn’t apply to you, like the law was anything you decided it to be.

and that is **exactly** what we have on our hands here.

In fact you might even inspire other entities to, for example, seize cattle grazing land arbitrarily, then fatally ambush the former owners on the side of the road, totally unprovoked, then you might taze the lawyers of those non-perps in a court of law, and then if you can get away with that, you might simply keep retrying them for invented crimes.

No one is going to mess with the FBI. Best we can do is let them know what we think of the loudly and often.

“...the FBI refused to turn over documents regarding the Hillary Clinton emails because of — wait for it — “lack of public interest.”........

Which one of the “public” was it? I would like to discuss that with him/her. The Bengahzi story has been in the forefront of the news for years, (pushed by the media by the way) so tell me again “FBI” folks, WHAT LACK OF INTEREST? Yes, that complete “den of thieves” needs to be investigated to weed out and remove the swamp dwellers. Certainly there are good/honest people who are being accused having had NO HAND in any of the crap going on.

Anyone at the FBI that signed off on “nothing found” from the FOIA Tarmac meeting should be gone and being punished already. But as usual no accountability.

...........I think one minor correction to your post is in order, or maybe not so minor, and that is instead of “hired by Obama” the firings should be of anyone hired going back to November 1, 2008.

To get exempted it would take approval from Trump himself.

Why does everyone tend to focus on Sessions? How about recognizing that the buck truly does start/stop with Trump. I thought Trump worked 16 hour days? How about spending 8 hours on military/defense/national security, and 8 hours on justice? Why doesn't he hire a team of private attorneys to help him personally run the DoJ?

All the questions & suggestions mentioned here and elsewhere are relevant because they are true. Yes, why doesn't he shut down the FBI? Why doesn't he create a special, emergency investigation unit comprised of personnel brought in from military judge advocate corps? Why doesn't he de-classify reams up reams of departmental communication?

These and other methods are all available to Trump. That's why I believe he is actually playing the long game. By allowing resentment & anger towards the in-your-face corruption to percolate and slow cook, he can realize maximum effect Nov 2018.
