This looks like DoJ i trying to break Menendez and turn him on Reid and Corzine. Reid will go to the can rather than talk but Corzine will hand up Wall Street crooks everybody hates anyway.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) would choose the replacement, who is sure to be a Republican. That senator would face the voters in November 2018. Hah. I could see Christie saying "I don't give a damn about party politics, this is about the best man for the job and the state of NJ" and pulling some democrat out of his hat just so he could get headlines and some street cred as a "above politics" guy for some future talking head role he wants.
