President Trump was in an especially ornery mood after staff members gently suggested he refrain from injecting politics into day-to-day issues of governing after last months raucous rally in Arizona, and he responded by lashing out at the most senior aide in his presence.
It happened to be his new chief of staff, John F. Kelly.
Mr. Kelly, the former Marine general brought in five weeks ago as the successor to Reince Priebus, reacted calmly, but he later told other White House staff members that he had never been spoken to like that during 35 years of serving his country. In the future, he said, he would not abide such treatment, according to three people familiar with the exchange.
While Mr. Kelly has quickly brought some order to a disorganized and demoralized staff, he is fully aware of the presidents volcanic resentment about being managed, according to a dozen people close to Mr. Trump, and has treaded gingerly through the minefield of Mr. Trumps psyche. But the president has still bridled at what he perceives as being told what to do.

Another hit piece by the dynamic duo at nyt.
Why would anyone believe anything in the NYT?
Donald J. Trump is the President. Nuff Said.
I am not a fan of Mr. Kelly’s, and I have not liked what I’ve seen and read about him since he became CoS. He himself is sometimes disrespectful of the President. He needs to realize he’s a servant, not a general any longer, or he needs to go.
“Three people”
They’re not officials, not sources, not spokesmen.
Fake News
Sounds like more fake news.
Today’s talking points in the media are “Trump is alienated from everyone around him including his supporters, and everyone’s abandoning him.”
Yeah, that’ll work, losers.
Hey President Trump, good men are hard to find who aren’t either political or politically correct.....Keep Gen. Kelly warm and well fed, he is America’s friend as well as yours!
Sure, it is a hit piece, but details such as Kelly reporting to Panetta are very likely true. And worrisome.
If Keith Shiller actually leaves the WH there is still more to worry about.
Also hard to imagine a president in 2017 without regular web access.
Hey, President Trump—I understand why you might feel you can’t fire Kelly right now, but beware—he is no more your friend than is McMaster, Cohn, Powell or Mattis!
Dear Media....No one listens to your anymore.
Kelly is a great man, but I doubt he’s a Trumpian.
At least the National Enquirer admits to making up their material. But mind you, they were the first to report on John Edwards’ indiscretions (well ahead of MoDo and her crowd).
BBBwahahahaha! You mean kelly never went through MARINE CORPS OFFICER TRAINING? Never called a [filtered]?
ROTFL
Totally agree. Kelly will end up being a horrible choice. He keeps trump isolated and has fired almost all of the trump supporters in the white house. The sooner this democrat goes, the better.
Considering all that, if not Kelly, than who? I'm not unhappy about there being some structure and those press conferences being under control.
“But one associate who spoke to Mr. Kelly last month said the former commander had remarked that his current assignment was by far the hardest job he had ever had. His favorite gig, he jokes, was his first: Marine grunt.”
This is good! Mr. Kelly should work a hard as his boss.
A Marine is a lot tougher. I don’t believe anything Trump could’ve said would be a surprise to anyone who’s served in the military, even the Air Force.
“Kelly is a great man, but I doubt hes a Trumpian.”
Then he’s not really a “great man,” now is he?
