"We must respect his authority and constitutional responsibilities. We must, where we can, cooperate with him. But we are not his subordinates. We don't answer to him. We answer to the American people."
And with that, mark Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., down as the second Republican senator to call on his colleagues to be a bulwark against President Donald Trump.
On Friday, McCain published an op-ed in The Washington Post contrasting Trump's tepid response to white supremacists in Charlottesville with his own ("There is nothing in their hate-driven racism that can match the strength of a nation conceived in liberty"), justifying his surprise "no" vote on Republicans' attempt to repeal Obamacare, calling on congressional leaders to compromise with Democrats and vice-versa, and basically advising all of Congress to prioritize its own relationships over its standing with Trump:
"[W]e have to respect each other or at least respect the fact that we need each other. That has never been truer than today, when Congress must govern with a president who has no experience of public office, is poorly informed and can be impulsive in his speech and conduct."

The people of Arizona are too distracted by shiny objects to reign in the fool they keep voting for.
***********
Arizona owes it to the country to correct their mistake.
That is some lazy cancer. Get to work!
Didn’t vote for him. Take it back! Take it back! You’re mean! /just kidding...’
Squirrel!
True. Senators are not Trump’s subordinates. Many of you, however, are his inferiors, in every way imaginable, most especially yourself, John.
Dear God,
Please take John McCain, now.
Tank You ... Amen
The American People
Dear Mr. McCain,
No you are not his subordinates, you are OUR subordinates and we elected him to carry out OUR AGENDA. Now get with the program or get gone. I am sick and tired of RINO yelpers not toeing the line for We the People.
This rally cry of yours is exactly why we can’t fix the country. Ever wonder why democrats are so damn effective even with BAD policy? Yeah...that’s your reflection McCain. It ain’t pretty.
That Idiot McCain continues to be a redundant.
I am getting to the point where I am almost ready to say the only good thing about McCain is that he has brain cancer.
And that is really really sad.
And everyday McCain gives me a reason to despise him more.
Fine. Take him up on his BS. Demand he introduce tax reform, etc., rather than “wait” for Trump.
He does know who his bosses actually are right?
You’re the Democrats errand boy.
Just an FYI, Arizona has open Primaries. Dems cross over to vote for the most Lib ‘Republican’ candidate. THAT is how he keeps getting in. Pray for the Legislature to overturn the Law about Primaries.
“We must respect his authority and constitutional responsibilities. We must, where we can, cooperate with him. But we are not his subordinates. We don’t answer to him. We answer to the American people.”
- Chuck Schumer
Oh, wait. Silly me. that was said by a ranking member of the President’s own party. apparently there is zero difference between Republican and Democrat Congress members: they ALL hate President Trump.
If you really believe that, John McCain, then why don't you act like it? The American people elected you to do a job. The American people also elected Trump to do a job. Obstructing President Trump from doing the job the American people elected him to do is not the job the American people elected you to do.
No.
You are his (our) enemies.
I would call this senile feces a traitor.
No you songbird traitor; you and the rest of the shitbag house and senate are supposed to answer to US, THE VOTERS.
We sent you there to support the president we elected and to represent OUR agenda when the president is not of our choosing.
You and the rest of the slimebags have done the opposite and ignored the electorate.
We sent this president to the WH to fulfill his promises to the American people and we expect all of you to support him and his agenda against the socialist democrat party.
You can’t pass soon enough. When you’re gone the Constitution and the American people will be safer.
Needs a 'safe place' to whine........hahahaha!.....
I think McCain was probably born a prick.
