Sanders: It's 'pretty dumb' not to ask about climate change after Harvey

Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders said Thursday that the unprecedented rainfall and resulting flooding from Hurricane Harvey should spark a discussion about climate change.

"I think it is pretty dumb not to ask some hard questions about why more rain is now falling, and has fallen in the Houston area, as I understand it, than any time that people can have measured," Sanders told CNN's Chris Cuomo.

The first priority in responding to Harvey's devastation should be saving lives and ensuring people affected have adequate and safe housing, Sanders said, but he added that the issue of climate change should also be addressed.

Some areas of Texas saw almost 52 inches of rain, and the full scope of destruction from the storm is still unknown.

"Is it related to climate change? Is some of the intensity and the magnitude of this related to Climate change? I think most scientists believe it is," Sanders said. "The right question to be asking is 'what does this mean for the future?'"

they need to get a bunch of jumbo jets to fly into the hurricane opposite way... and go around really fast and slow it down that way...

Yeah, Bernie, this is the first time a hurricane low pressure system has stalled out over one place and dumped bucket loads of water on an area. / sarc. It wasn’t even a particularly strong hurricane. It just quit moving because another low pressure system was in the way and kept raining over the same place.

Anybody who subscribes to socialism/ Marxism is either stupid, brainwashed or evil. Bernie is an evil stooge.

Patriots are reminded that Sen. Sanders was brought to us by the ill-conceived 17th Amendment (17A).

As a side note to Sen. Sanders, please consider the following.

In addition to the states repealing 17A, the states need to amend the Constitution to require federal lawmakers to serve one term as state lawmakers before being allowed to run for federal office.

During that one term before running for federal office, in addition to learning about state budgets and revenues, the states can make sure that future federal politicians are taught about the fed’s constitutionally limited powers and associated limited power to appropriate taxes.

Next, although Pres. Trump is accomplishing a LOT, it remains that since the uniparty Congress wants to get rid of him that his first two years in office are arguably just practice. That being said ...

Drain the swamp sewer! Drain the sewer!

Remember in November 2018 !

Since corrupt Congress is the biggest part of the sewer (imo) that Trump wants to drain, it is actually up to patriots to drain the sewer in the 2018 elections, patriots supporting Trump by electing as many new members of Congress as they can who will support Trump.

In the meanwhile, patriots need to make sure that there are plenty of Trump-supporting candidates on the primary ballots.

Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal government’s powers.

Patriots also need to make sure that candidates are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal government’s limited powers listed above.

Also, unlike incumbent members of Congress who wrongly remained silent while misguided state officials abridged the constitutionally enumerated rights of citizens during the lawless Obama Administration, patriots need to make sure that candidates on the 2018 primary ballots commit to the following.

Candidates need to commit to making and enforcing 14th Amendment-related laws to prosecute misguided state officials who use state powers to abridge constitutionally enumerated protections, 1st Amendment-protected religious expression and free speech for example, such actions prohibited by Section 1 of the 14th Amendment.

”14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

Two major hurricanes hit roughly the same spot in 1900 and 1915 in Sept. and Aug. respectively. In 1900 the deadliest natural disaster in US history left anywhere from 6 to 12 thousand dead. In 1915 275 to 400 died. We don’t know the final death toll for this one but it’s doubtful it will come close to those two.
