WASHINGTON Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is raising speculation that Harriet Tubmans future on the $20 bill could be in jeopardy.
In a CNBC interview, Mnuchin on Thursday avoided a direct answer when asked whether he supported the decision made by the Obama administration to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with Tubman, the 19th century African-American abolitionist who was a leader in the Underground Railroad.
People have been on the bills for a long period of time, he said. This is something well consider. Right now, we have a lot more important issues to focus on.

No sh*t, Sherlock! But stay tuned for the whining about the inconsequential.
Trump should put Reagan on the $10. That would drive the lefties crazy. LOL.
That’s the key thing. It’s not about playing to the crowd. It’s not about Identity Politics. It’s not about virtue signalling. The Treasury Secretary has more important things to focus on. The media is just so lame.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
I’ll say it.
No.
No other political activists are on the bills.
Only presidents are on them.
That is how it should remain.
We do not need to politicize one more aspect of our nation.
I think Obama deserves to be on the $3 bill, with a pic of Reggie on the back(no pun intended).
Except Franklin....but he wasn’t a political activist.
Personally I don’t think it matters. But just to pick a nit, Franklin and Hamilton weren’t presidents.
I do think Reagan should be on a bill though.
How come no Belle Starr? I want a complete change of the bills. A General series with pictures of the North and South Generals. Let it run for a decade and then change it to the lefts heroes Che, Fidel, Chavez,and Mad-error. After another 10 years all women, the Pelosi, Hillary, Waters, Liawatha issues. By that time I won’t have to worry about it.
Who to you think should replace the non-presidents on the $10 and $100 bills?
I am of the belief that no real person should be on any currency, stamp, or coins. Look at some of the old examples of US currency (yes they did have Presidents on them) the education series, the buffalo note, the Indian Chief etc. We should use scenes from nature, historical events, symbols of America etc.
An outright no would create a media firestorm. His answer was good. Just kick the can down the road, keep Jackson on the $10, and hope this gets mostly forgotten.
What about GloZell?
I have advocated removing all real people from money. The US isn’t an empire with the king/emperor/queen on the currency.
Instead the US should have the mythical goddess of liberty, the bald Eagle and other native wildlife on the coins and bills.
For example see the list below
Penny = Rattle Snake (Don’t tread on me)
Nickle = Buffalo
Dime = Beaver
Quarter = Grizzly Bear
1/2 Dollar = Turkey
$1 = Seated goddess of liberty
$5 = Walking goddess of liberty
$10 = Bald Eagle
$20 = Double Eagle
$50 = US Flag
$100 = Double US Flag
This would solve these stupid attempts at identity politics on the money.
Agreed. I like your idea!
Beaver for a dime? Now we are talking.
He certainly was...
Actually $10 Hamilton and $100 Franklin were not presidents. I muffed that one.
As you state, they were not political activists against our nation.
I’d leave them do to their standing in our nation’s history, and the fact they’ve been on our bills for a long time.
There’s no need to replace them.
