Put the houses on tall pilings
Let me guess, Mayor Sylvester Turner is a Democrat? All Democrats are crooks, and keep taking money from suckered voters. And steal the money. Texas, clean your house.
Now, why in the hell should the rest of the country pay for the stupidity of people continuing to live in a flood plain? If you insist on living there put your effing houses up on stilts and have a rowboat handy. The rest of us have enough trouble paying our own way with out having to pay yours too.
I am waiting for an investigation into this message sent by a law firm.
If it was a Republican Mayor it would already be in the works.
I’ve been wondering how there are all these homes in areas that obviously are in 100-year flood zones.
I thought there were no loans available for them.
Apparently there is.
This Democratic mayor absolutely refused advice to order an evacuation on the city. Would be a funny cartoon portraying him climbing a Confederate monument to escape the rising waters.
Most of it probably hasn’t been spent. Infrastructure projects take time, especially if land acquisition and temporary construction easements are involved, along with your normal engineering and bid time.
Most of the improvements are far upstream from the flooded area and don’t help that much with localized flooding.

They hired people to vote Democrat.
Only if someone not related to Houston City government is in charge of the money and the project. Affirmative Action hires are simply not equipped for the job.
Houston Mayor asks state for $43M to help with flood relief...

That’s only 67 cents per Texan.
Probably went to campaign coffers of Sheila Jackson-Lee....who, by the way, should be forced to change her racist name!
I make no comment on the subject from the title of the post.
However, on the situation the Hurricane created, I just don’t see the news of the calamity representing the high pitch of “unprecedented” that has been given to the weather reports about the storm.
To me, so far, there is a disconnect between the reported severity of the storm and the actual calamity it is creating.
Ask Sheila Jackson Lee what happened to the money.
They’ve known since the first campfire was built along the bayou that it floods. Houston does not have zoning laws. Yeah, for real. They can build pretty much what they want wherever they want. This is the result.
This Noon, I was streaming talk radio from Houston. Commentators were asking drivers of SUVs to stay home or drive more slowly through neighborhoods. Waves are forming in kitchens produced by their wakes!
Use his Sanctuary money.
