Actually the FDR Drive should keep it’s name. Ever since it was converted into a limited access parkway 70 years ago it’s been under perpetual reconstruction and the roadway still looks like it was hit by a mortar attack. It has the dubious distinction of being one of the few elevated highways prone to flooding and may be sinking into the East River. A perfect example of of government waste and inefficiency.

Also it’s been speculated that when the first parkways were built in the NYC suburbs the reason Moses ordered the overpasses to have low clearances was not so much to keep trucks off those roads but busses as well.
