Next they’ll want to rename Grant’s Tomb because he once owned slaves.
And demolish Monticello and UVA
Why should Signer and Bellamy and McAuliffe care it both are $$$ makers . . . ITS THE PRINCIPLE THAT COUNTS, RIGHT BOYS?
“I AM SpartaLee”
Everything is racist. Someone has to say no to these people. There will be nothing left before yesterday, and it was racist, too.
The left is in total meltdown. Even hysterically turning on their once revered icons.
Best election, best president, evah!!
I just love when they eat their own
Can anything be named in anyone’s honor anymore?
Carried to its conclusion, everyone has something objectionable to someone in their history.
Even someone such as Martin Luther King, whom liberals revere, has objectionable behavior and positions. He opposed homosexuality, and cheated on his wife. So there.
What are the criteria by which anyone can be set up as a figure to be honored?
If we are saying that all historic figures needed to have had a 21st century politically correct conscience and worldview and did not say or do anything in their lives which violated 21st century political correctness, then clearly nobody can be honored in any way.
Change the name back to Blackwell Island — after John Forbes Kerry’s grandpappy.
>>I just love when they eat their own<<
I hope they blackball the commie SOB and destroy his stupid shrine in DC.
Time to figure out a way for them to go after mau tse king’s statue in DC as well.
As Drudge says: “It begins.”
Wait till they learn that Margaret Sanger is the matron saint of the demonicRAT Party and that's why so many Planned Parenthood "clinics" are in black neighborhoods.
The area was first settled by the Dutch, who purchased the land from the Indians. There were no "American settlers" involved, and there was no "slaughter."
Let it go back to its original name: Blackwell Island. You can still see the infamous old prison from the Manhattan side.
Add Harry S. Truman to that list.
FDR also had what today would be considered racist views of blacks.
Nah; given the mindset of liberal New Yorkers, the name “Welfare Island”, which it bore from 1921 to 1971, has to be more appropriate.
There was a guy in New York named Egan, I think. He allowed folks to enjoy his estate. Ice skating, things like that. Eventually, he donated the land to the city to be a park for the public. Egan Park. A week after he died, the city council voted to rename the park Roosevelt Park.
He’s actually from Ohio. Why wasn’t he buried there?
By association, wouldn’t that make Hillary a racist, since she launched her campaign there?
