I agree, the government has no business deporting legal immigrants that have been in the country for years. On the other hand the government has the absolute duty to deport illegal immigrants that have been in the country for whether for a minute, an hour or for years. We have moved out of the obama era of encouraging and rewarding illegal immigration. It appears Sen Brown failed to get the message, elections have consequences.

People like that tend to disappear in my state.
The word has no connotations of legal status. If someone moves to a country he is a migrant, an emigrant from his old country and an immigrant into his new country. If he does it legally this migrational aspirations will be fulfilled. If he sneaks across borders illegally and is caught then he will be an involuntary emigrant. "Illegal immigrant" is a clunky phrase. I prefer "wetback," a word with a long and honorable history.

Hysterical use of normal everyday words. Assigning political meanings that they do not actually have. An immigrant is an immigrant, legal or not. Reassigning definitions and insisting on the ersatz meanings is an Orwellian use of language.
If they’re illegal — they’re illegal.
If they are taking classes to become American Citizens and speak English — then let them stay.

Exactly. The DOJ should just issue a new list of crimes and a list of how long one must avoid capture to have the crime deleted and ignored as though it never happened. Makes sense to me /s
This “senator” and many many other of our inglorious bastard politicians like having laws that they can enforce or ignore at will so they can be used as a club against those they disagree with and not threaten those who give them lots of money....
