Advertisers are turning to gay couples and ethnic minorities to sell their products.

Advertisers are so worried about being accused of racism or homophobia they are shying away from using images of white people and straight couples.
Marketing departments are even putting diversity above relevance to their target audience to avoid accusations of bigotry, a survey of 500 companies has found.
A third of advertisers questioned said they had used fewer white models and heterosexual couples over the past year. More than a third of these said they were taking this approach to prevent perceived discrimination.
The findings are likely to trigger accusations of political correctness but show a marked change in attitudes in the advertising industry, which has until recently had a reputation for under-representing ethnic minorities.
Brands that have featured gay couples include Lloyds.

HGTV channel is now basically the Homo Gay TV channel. So is the Food Network channel.
They pay for the ads based on the number of eyeballs. They rent eyeballs. Reduced eyeballs = reduced ad revenue.
Well put; any big company eventually becomes so enmeshed with government it starts to function as one of its arms. Look at policies in terms of preferential hiring/promotions and such; eventually they are coerced into toeing the line on all government diktats (LGBT, environmental, etc.).
I remember watching an analysis of TV as a medium (ironic, I know), and this guy described how people thought TV was used to sell things to them - when in fact THEY (the viewers) were being sold to the advertising companies.
Liberty Insurance does that in their commercials.
Seriously, there’s nothing wrong with having minorities on tv and commercials but not when the races are being intentionally pitted against each other. We can thank Obama for this. Every black is now superior to whites and there are less other races represented. You can’t turn on the idiot box without being assaulted by gays on every channel. A thousand years from now, history will claim it was straight people who made up 2% if they go by what they see on today’s tv.

True. The part of the show between commercials is known as “filler” in the production industry.
I cut the cable years ago. I do watch some sports, but that is it.
No more Ikea, though I only bought one piece at a thrift store. No Target. No Macy's, etc. They will have to find their sales from the queer nation.
I went to one of their stores once. It was from top to bottom the ugliest merchandise I have ever seen. I would buy anything they sell.
I’m convinced a black person has never been a home invader since I have never seen a security company commercial with anything but white, middle class guys busting down doors.
Watch commercials where someone is in a position of responsibility: doctor, judge, etc. Almost always black facing the clueless, ignorant white person, mostly white males.

Local and generic is where to spend your dollars. I’ve been able to avoid 99% of the companies on my 39 page ban list. If anyone wants the list, just ask.
Whenever possible tape the program and then fast forward through the commercials. We do and enjoy the programs much more.
Straight white males should return the favor.
They have final approval on how their brand is portrayed. If an ad agency produces a campaign that the client believes will be detrimental to their image, they will not pay for the work.

The mythos portrayed in advertising is disgusting and for those without only one brain cell ready to die of loneliness, it is pure indoctrination.
