An assistant professor at the University of Iowa who pledged to expose her students to “their own white ignorance” in a “peer-reviewed academic journal” was stunned and appalled that she was, well, criticized for it.
Jodi Linley, a white education instructor, wrote that her goal was to make her “mostly white” graduate students keenly aware of their “white privilege” and use her classroom to “deconstruct whiteness.” If she did otherwise, she explained, it would make her “complicit” in perpetrating white supremacy.
“For white students,” she wrote, “talking about race with an all-white group of peers … [reveals] their own white ignorance.”
Linley said her commitment to designing classes that fight white privilege began as soon as she became a professor in 2014, at which point she resolved to “develop courses that both unveiled and rejected” the notion that “neutrality and objectivity are realistic and attainable.”
“As a white assistant professor of mostly white graduate students who will become higher education leaders, I work to dismantle whiteness in my curriculum, assignments and pedagogy,” Linley explained, noting that in addition to her “white identity,” she also draws on her “identities as a queer, able-bodied, cisgender woman” with a working-class background to construct her “teaching paradigm.”

There’s the problem “.. white EDUCATION instructor ..”. Rule of thumb for the modern college university student. Avoid any class from the college of education or has education in them. Same for any class that has “.. studies ..” in the title. If you have to take such a class do it online to get credit.
One day those helmets will be K-Pots if the libs keep pushing their agenda.. and why wouldn’t they, they are winning the culture war.
I think it is important to remember that in so many wars and revolutions one of the first peoples to be rounded up and put against the wall are the professors.
These teachers had better read some well balanced history instead of trying to re-write it.
Now we are allowing our children to be taught nonsense by idiots who can't add.

There is no confusion like learned confusion.
Named or not, explicit or not, it permeates a subculture which is wildly successful and perpetuates that success by passing learned behavior on to their genetic offspring. Unfortunately, those not successful often confuse the behavior for the generic correlation.

It wouldn't do them any good. If they were capable of learning from history, they wouldn't hold the stupid positions they do. These are very stupid people. They deny this--to themselves and their fellow travelers--by hiding behind academic credentials, but regardless of the credentials, they are very stupid; in fact, they are too stupid to comprehend this simple truth.
I spent well over 15 years in academia, as student and faculty. I have spent my life in educated and education circles. I'm a member of Mensa. My IQ has been measured well over 170. And I can tell you--some of the stupidest people I have ever met have "impressive" credentials.
That is a superb idea. In essence, one of us would infiltrate their ranks and make them look absolutely ridiculous with something of this nature... Just like the left is to infiltrated the supposedly right-wing groups at Charlottesville did to us.
Now who among FReepers is a university professor?
Then they ignore history at their own peril and will only realize their folly when they are being dragged to their inevitable fate.
These “magisters” may debate the reasons for such purges, but they cannot debate the reality that they have (and will) happen again.
That we are a free and open society currently is no aegis against facts that the purveyors of indoctrination on the university level will not be the ones to ponder and pontificate on the aftermath.
I envy them not, and happily do not count myself amongst them.

This is all so hilarious to me, I am 73 and when I was in grade school anyone who referred to gender of a PERSON would have been scholded severely by the teacher. We were told that people were of either the male or female SEX and the word gender applied only to pronouns. There were THREE genders, masculine, feminine and neuter. He, his, him were masculine pronouns, she, her, hers were feminine pronouns, they, their, theirs, them were NEUTER pronouns. No one could imagine that the insanity witnessed today could ever happen.
