Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) disagrees with President Trump's decision to pardon former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.
"The speaker does not agree with the decision," Ryan's spokesman Doug Andres told The Wall Street Journal. "Law-enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States. We should not allow anyone to believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon."

Ryan is not uninformed. He’s just a puppet of big donors who want open borders. He’s saying what they tell him to say. He cares nothing about what average Republicans think. He serves the mega-wealthy
Ryan serves the big donors
Ryan doesn’t represent a district in Wisconsin. He represents the donor class - against you and me
I suspect his big donor masters called and told him to denounce Trump to the media
They are bought and sold on the free market.
Trump is not.
They just do their masters bidding. I lived in AZ for a time from ‘85 to ‘99.
McCain didn’t have problem one with the Sheriff cracking down on crime. Phoenix was a hotbed and his all volunteer Posse during the holidays was a smash hit.
McCain has sold out completely. He doesn’t care about Arizona and he sure as hell doesn’t care about the rule of law.
He is not breaking with Trump so much as he is breaking with the base....but then, what would be expected?
Blaa-blaa-blaa. Ryan disagrees with anything that upsets the Democrats. A real headline worthy action would be Ryan supporting Trump.
How can Ryan POSSIBLY find fault with this??? Oh I get it...he’s a closet liberal.
Ryan is eGOP, so of course he does.
Did the rinos complain this much about obama’s pardons? Asking for a friend...
c’ryan realizes he has not an iota of the charisma of President Trump. Owning the impotence of a yapping chihuahua demanding attention, c’ryan can only screech in a pipsqueak monotone, knowing he has been promoted to the level of his incompetence.
I read that he has about 90% approval in his district. He’s not going to be taken down.
I tell you what ryan - you get yourself elected and then you can pardon whomever you like. Until then STFU!
I would really like to know in what world this works out for Ryan.
1. Trump has a good argument for the pardon. Arpaio was targeted for destruction by liberals and convicted by a judge who hated him. Arpaio apparently wanted a jury trial, but the kangaroo court said no.
2. Ryan, for this departure from Trump (and others) does not endear himself to anyone who votes. Liberals will NOT reward him and conservatives will NOT forget this betrayal.
3. The same tactics used against Arpaio will (and are) being used against conservatives of every stripe...”fiscal” and “social” conservatives are hated by Marxists/Antifa/BLM/Democrats or whatever name wishes to attach to these whiners. And these same tactics will be used against him—honestly or dishonestly, it doesn’t matter.
So why is Ryan saying this? I think it is obvious that it shows he is at least in part imbued with the “establishment” mentality. He takes cues from those who are his “elders” in the business: Romney, McCain, Graham. He also, deep down I think, wants to hang on to the ideals that drove him to politics in the first place.
I don’t think Ryan is as horrid as many here think. He isn’t “Deep State” GOP. But he hasn’t yet developed the gumption or know-how to challenge these establishment apparatchiks. And the establishment has a VERY BIG interest in keeping Ryan in its camp. I am sure they’ve surrounded him with staffers and advisors to push him to “toe the line” for the bosses.
We will see how it plays out. I hope Ryan becomes a stronger advocate for the people and that the temptation the D.C. social circuit is resisted.
Look, folks, we’re commanded by the Almighty to pray for those in authority. Trump has his faults but his heart is right. Ryan has them, too, but his willingness to stand with Trump on other issues shows he also wants to do SOME things right.
Let’s pray for all of them, and ask God to be with them. The hate spewed on twitter, sometimes here, and on the nightly news is nauseating and beneath our dignity. I admit to being among those who let emotion get the best of me.
There is a better way.
Let’s keep pushing forward. None of this surprises God—not the GOP backstabbers, not the Antifa haters, not even the dishonest journalists (is there any other kind? ha ha).
Keep calm.
my 2 cents.
sff
Ryan is a miserable puddle of living emulsified pulsating feces.
Ryan is a nutless turd.
—
Hey, that’s an insult to nutless turds everywhere.
The hilarious part is why this NOTHING pretends anyone should give a crap what he thinks about anything.
I wonder what Ryan will say when DJT cuts Flynn & Manafort loose?
The Backstabber of the House seems to think he can coast until Trump is gone.
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) should first take a look at the merits of the case before disagreeing with President Trump's decision to pardon former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
If Ryan were familiar with the merits of the case, he would NOT disagree with the President.
Wisconsin.
