Rosa Parks’ house may be returned to US from Germany
WXIN59 ^ | 08/26/2017 | Associated Press

The house has been up in Berlin less than a year, but after violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the growing call to remove Confederate monuments in the United States, the New York native said it’s now clear to him that Parks’ house needs to return soon to the U.S.

“It’s actually become a necessity, as we see people rising up and seeing things for what they are,” he said. “As Americans begin to understand they have to re-contextualize these monuments, the Confederate statues, there is a lack of civil rights monuments to balance things out.”

"His dream would be to see the derelict home reconstructed on the lawn of the White House with the blessing of U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Trump says that he’s not a racist. This would be a wonderful moment for him to redeem himself in the eyes of Americans,” Mendoza said. “He wants to embrace all of America’s past. Why not embrace the house that Rosa Parks once lived in?” ---- You've GOT to be kidding me. No - if confederate memorials are EVIL and we need to put them in the past to concentrate on a BRIGHT future then that includes ALL memorials from the past.

We have a few historical places in our city: Patsy Cline Museum for example. It is the home she grew up in, a modest home in what is today a rough neighborhood. Going there, you not only learn of her upbringing, but the life of people from modest backgrounds in those days. We need to hold on to our history.

Just force every city to have an MLK Drive or school. Oh wait, that’s already been done...

Trump says that he’s not a racist. This would be a wonderful moment for him to redeem himself in the eyes of Americans,

B.S. It would make no difference in their attitude toward Trump. They would say he did it only because of the pressure they put on him.

They should put it on top of the Clinton Presidential Library.

“”No - if confederate memorials are EVIL and we need to put them in the past to concentrate on a BRIGHT future then that includes ALL memorials from the past.””

If history is going to be erased, it all needs to be erased. There was no civil rights movement, no Rosa Parks because none of this ever happened! Goodbye, all streets named after her and all streets/schools named after MLK, Jr.
The rant in this country is EQUALITY - that’s equality!

I guess he thinks that the WH and surrounding property belongs to the president to do with as he wishes.

Often the action of Rosa Parks in the bus is cast as having been an act of total spontaneity by a woman who could stand it no longer, that she happened to be very tired that day:

that is an absolute lie.

I don’t care if you believe in her cause ten thousand percent, her act on that day was as spontaneous as high mass at st. Anthony’s church.

it has been months in the planning, Rosa Parks was a very longtime left-wing political activist. her role was chosen by a committee it was assigned to her.

They also chose that particular bus because it belonged to a company which was from out of state and had very thin political Connections in the community.

the left always wants you to believe that these things are spontaneous and carried out by people who aren’t political at all.

that’s a complete and utter lie.

In closing let me add that Rosa Park’s own people on two occasions broke into her home and robbed her, one of the thieves apparently wasn’t completely oblivious and did recognize her while he was robbing her.

Rosa got beaten up in Detroit. Attempted burglary. The perp didn’t even know who she was. Probably doesn’t even know who MLK was.

re-contextualize these monuments

Is THAT what they're doing!!! Glad someone cleared it up for me, cuz it looked to me like they were tearing them down or defacing them.

And she wasn’t the first black woman who acted on a plan to “sit in the front” of a bus. She just happened to be the one who got the publicity for it. IOW, she ain’t nuthin’ special.

Find a good spot for it and yeah, the last thing we need is a bunch of sanctimonious Europeans having a monument to point to. We have preserved Underground Railroad homes and we should preserve this too, just not on the White House lawn please.

I view this as sort of like the churches that grabbed relics in order to encourage pilgrimages which were good for local economies. Tourism, these days. Go for it!
