((HUGS))Good morning, LUV W. How’s it going?
We joked about getting some goats to take care of the mowing a few years ago. No way we’d do it, though, because they’d just be food for the coyotes.
We have a tractor with an 8-foot mower to pull behind it for the large areas and a riding mower for the yards. That helps but it still takes a while.
I hope right along with you that the weather stays decent. Our summer hasn’t been too bad overall though. We had a couple of hot spells but it’s been decent for the most part.
As much as we hate it, we NEED a cold winter this year. WAAAAAAY too many bugs this summer. Last winter was mild and we knew we were going to have zillions of the lil peskies. We do.
Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))
All is well here. Just watching hurricane coverage with most of the rest of Texas. We’re a long way from any bad stuff. Thank goodness. The hailstorm we had in June was our “disaster”.
Hope you and Bo have a great weekend! Did he find any critters to play with yesterday?
No no critters but he sure likes to walk through all of those thorny twigs.((LOL)) We’ll see how things go today. :-D

Sassy showed two very different faces as an artist. She could do jazz in a small club or work in a studio with a full orchestra. This is from her work with Hal Mooney in 1957.

Chet was never serious about defeating his opium demons, and eventually he moved to Amsterdam where he could be more comfortable with them. They devoured him in 1988. In this 1957 recording, he starts slow and dreamy as though it were just another ballad, but then he cuts loose and swings.
This is from Ellas 1959 traversal of the Gershwin songbook with Nelson Riddle. Its well arranged if a bit overproduced.
“overproduced”
Yep.
There were occasions when Nelson Riddle didn’t know when to leave well enough alone.
My favorites with Ella are the simple jazz Trio-type arrangements.
Some of Nelson’s arrangements are so riddled with syrupy strings that I would like to take Alexander’s “Gordian Knot” Approach.
Tonys career has spanned over five decades. Just when he was thought to be part of the distant past, he came back in the Eighties and Nineties with a whole new career. This is from 1959.
Prayers of strength for my fellow Texicans
in harms way tonight.
In baseball terms, this is a change-up. Rather than handle it as a ballad, Dinah works it up as a Latin rhumba in 1960.
Frank tackled the song under Billy May in 1961 during the Capitol years.
