Sebastian Gorka is resigning his post as Deputy Assistant to President Trump, multiple sources familiar with the situation have told The Federalist.
In a blunt resignation letter, the national security and counterterrorism expert expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the Trump administration. [G]iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are for now ascendant within the White House, Gorka wrote. As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the Peoples House.
Gorkas letter expressed unhappiness with the direction the Trump administrations foreign policy has taken, as signaled by the presidents recent speech on Afghanistan:
Regrettably, outside of yourself, the individuals who most embodied and represented the policies that will Make America Great Again, have been internally countered, systematically removed, or undermined in recent months. This was made patently obvious as I read the text of your speech on Afghanistan this week
The fact that those who drafted and approved the speech removed any mention of Radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism proves that a crucial element of your presidential campaign has been lost
Just as worrying, when discussing our future actions in the region, the speech listed operational objectives without ever defining the strategic victory conditions we are fighting for. This omission should seriously disturb any national security professional, and any American who is unsatisfied with the last 16 years of disastrous policy decisions which have led to thousands of Americans killed and trillions of taxpayer dollars spent in ways that have not brought security or victory.
During his time in the Trump administration, Gorka focused on issues such as countering the Muslim Brotherhood, the crisis in Qatar, drafting a new long-term national security strategy, and combatting Chinas economic warfare. Before coming to the White House, Gorka was an editor for national security affairs for Breitbart News, where he worked with Steve Bannon, who also recently departed the administration.
Gorkas tenure at the White House was marked by unusually vociferous attacks against him and his family by left-leaning media organizations and the Democratic Party. This includes personal attacks against his wife, mother, and son.
A source close to the White House said of his decision, This was more or less going to be a done deal when Bannon submitted his resignation. Not because he didnt have a protector, but because there is no point in having your life ruined every day if youre not going to get much accomplished. The same source said that what did change after Bannon left was that anti-Bannon factions began erecting bureaucratic road blocks to undermine Gorka internally.
The Forward has written dozens of attack pieces against Gorka, including several attempting to align him with Nazism. Most recently that publication retracted a story about his sons schoolwork. Gorka strenuously objected to allegations he had ties to Nazi groups in his familys home country of Hungary, where he had previously been involved in national politics. Even detractors eventually acknowledged the Nazi accusations were unfair smears.
In his letter, Gorka made clear that he believes in the promise of the Trump presidency despite being concerned about its present direction.
Your presidency will prove to be one of the most significant events in modern American politics. November the 8th was the result of decades during which the political and media elites felt that they knew better than the people who elect them into office. They do not, and the MAGA platform allowed their voices to be heard, he wrote, adding, Millions of people believe in, and have chosen, you and your vision of Making America Great Again. They will help eventually rebalance this temporary reality.

George W Trump.
Ha. Now that is funny.
At least its not Jeb
(Sadly, for many, in the Trump Amen Corner, it won't be.)
Larry, I don’t see Trump as an empty suit, but the quantity of high-caliber people leaving is troubling. Seriously.
Gorka is being a girly man. He’d rather be in the Fox News Channel.
I am sorry to hear this. I thought Gorka was sharp as hell and an invaluable element to the Trump White House. I hope this doesn’t mean that the McMaster wing has not achieved full control that would be a disaster.
Excellent point
Why would he want to fire Bannon? I think Gorka laid it out pretty clearly in his statement. He has brought in people like McMasters and is getting rid of the nationalists who helped him get elected.
Yup.ditto
I KNOW that WE elected someone who was NOT up to it! I gave him far more credit, than he deserved! I wrongfully assumed that because he had supposedly been interested in and somewhat involved in politics for a very long time, he would know better/know more people whom he could rely on and trust, than he actually did.
Great ideas, GREAT talking points, but Trump is proving that he has had less than NO idea whom to have around him, people to help him "work" Congress, etc.!
Read the posts on this thread....almost NOBODY is happy about any of what the latest mess and it IS a mess!
I don’t get all the whining here TRUMP put his daughter in place yes or no?? That means he WANTS her there same as anyone left...not the swamp or some crap. It’s either that or Trump is a weak leader....you don’t get it both ways.
Brilliant man...Never did trust him when he couldn’t name the enemy properly—islam
It was always the pusillanimous GW BUSH parsing, ‘radical islamic terrorism’, ‘jihad’ or some other such bs dodge-ball.
Hannity going to discuss Gorka’s departure later this hour on his show. Right now hurricane coverage then Sheriff Joe pardon. Gorka discussion may be late in the hour.
“All these conservatives resign, complaining that rhinos are moving in. By leaving they allow more rhino swamp infestation.”
If they don’t have the president’s support (a reasonable assumption if he’s appointing RINOs and giving them control), it’s hard to see why anyone would choose to hang on (and he may not have had a choice anyway).
The weird excuse I keep getting slammed with is that she is bland.. nothing much...and doesnt matter
Such a weird excuse
I suggest you get your head out of the sand. Former VA attorney general Ken Cuccinelli was on a few minutes ago talking about the Gorka firing.
He said there are no conservatives left in Trump’s inner circle, or top advisors. All are moderates. I would say this is true with the exception of Stephen Miller. If he gets canned in the coming days the establishment RINOs have taken over the White House. Hell, Trump even has a democrat as a top advisor. His name is Gary Cohn and he’s making the circuit badmouthing the president over his remarks about Charlottesville. Let’s see if Kelly fires him. I highly doubt it.
Unlike that other thing, he “let expire”, DACA doesn’t.
“He will find the people he needs.”

Really?
We’ve been saying that since January——it’s almost Labor Day.
