Organizers cancel right-wing rallies in San Francisco and Berkeley this weekend

Organizers of two right-wing rallies scheduled for this weekend in San Francisco and Berkeley abruptly called off their events on Friday afternoon, after weeks of blowback from local residents and elected officials. But questions remained about whether protesters would show up anyway, and some local leaders said they still worried violence could erupt.

The anticlimactic turnaround started at 3 p.m. on Friday, when Joey Gibson, the founder of the conservative group Patriot Prayer and the organizer of a rally schedule for Saturday in San Francisco’s Crissy Field, started a Facebook Live broadcast to announce his event wouldn’t go forward. Gibson said that he believed that “tons of extremists” would be coming to his event and that it could become dangerous.

As far as I know FR has not organized participation in any of these first amendment events...which is too bad because I first heard about FR during street protests around the 2000 election.

Bad move.Decent people should show up...IN NUMBERS...with nothing even remotely resembling a weapon...

And they will be beaten by Leftists who bring a lot of things that resemble weapons. "Law Enforcement" will stand down at the orders of the political authorities.

We have seen this movie several times before. We know how it turns out.

Open public events sponsored by "Right-wing" organizers in Leftist-dominated communities are a losing proposition. The Leftists will use violence to suppress any opposition and they have explicit support from local Governments to do so.

Decoy events which draw Leftists in "counter-protest" may be quite effective. When the "Right-wingers" cancel at the last minute, the Leftists will still show up to riot. And lacking their original targets, they may well turn on each other instead. They will also fight with the police. See the recent events in Boston for a worked example.

The conflicts that we see around us will not be settled by peaceful means.

As long as those on the Right side of this debate aren’t neo-Nazi nut jobs.

They could show up with M.A.G.A hats and carry Anti-Fascist signs, Anti-Communist signs, pro free speech signs and pro Trump signs.

The MSM and Antifa heads will explode.

In general I would say don’t fall for the bait.

If you DO show, arrange to do so with a lot of big tough bikers and truckers. Just plain fists, boots, and other muscle if needed can do a lot. Yank off a bunch of black masks. Whining about the police is passe. Calling on God isn’t.

I wonder if its possible that the Patriot Prayer group can’t sue Pelosi and others for incitement through libelous means, or whatever. Politicians should be held accountable for putting in danger lives.

Forcing the left to obey the same rules they wish on the right, would be a sweet feat.

The problem is the police in those areas are on Antifa’s side. And it’s California, where they don’t recognize self defense as a practical rule. Defend yourself against an attacking Antifa and you’ll be charged with a felony. Not a great idea if you have something to lose like a job, family, etc.

“Our side HAS to stop backing down from these thugs.”

South Carolina has a free speech rally this weekend in front of a confederate statue located in a cemetery. Nobody is backing down.

What if the/our side shows up as “Free speech” advocates.

But they carry Anti-Fascist signs?

They carry Anti-Communist signs?

They carry Anti-Nazi signs?

They carry Anti-racism signs?

They Carry Pro Free speech signs?

And

They carry Pro Trump signs?

Pro-America Signs?

The left will lose their minds.

I’d be willing to take a beating if it leads to America awakening to the truth about the Bolshevik threat to our freedom and liberty.

I understand the not wanting to subject yourself or others to seriously expected violence.

But here is the lie to it all:

“George Holland, the president of the Oakland chapter of the NAACP, said he thought canceling the rallies was “a good move.”

“If you believe in your cause, you don’t need to confront these people,” he said. White nationalists, he said, “don’t get any exposure unless it’s violent, and if they don’t get any exposure, they would probably disappear.”

George Holland is either speaking for or channeling the hard left, because neither of the “right wing” rallies that were previously scheduled were “White nationalists” involved.

The lie is - and it was successful in this case - to tie anything on “the right” to “White nationalists”, Neo-Nazis or “racists”.

We have to have a counter strategy to defend conservative “rallies” that have nothing to do with “White nationalists”, racists or Neo-Nazis.

I’d be willing to take a beating...

Remember - "It is more blessed to give than to receive".

Martyrdom is greatly overrated. If you really believe that you should attend the next scheduled festivities in your area, you might want to bring a number of burly friends with you.

You might also stand off at distance to meet-and-greet the "visitors". Being in the middle of a crowd seems like a bad idea.

It would be best to immediately leave an area after an incident occurs.

“Why announce when you are going to show up, take a page from the Left’s book and just show up!”

Free speech flash mobs.

I like it.

I remember that. I took part in the protests in San Francisco organized by FR in 2000. A march with signs and chants through the financial district, there were a lot of thumbs-up and approval by onlookers and little disapproval. No violence against the FR members doing the protests. Not so sure what would happen in 2017, things have gotten uncivil lately.

“...where the police will not protect non-leftist protesters.”

Thinking that limits our right to peaceably assemble and practice our right of free speech. We can accept that restriction, and surrender our rights. Or we can exercise our rights and hope that the authorities fulfill their obligation to protects us, and sue the h*** out of them if they do not. Or we can plan our own security, and fight for our rights. It is kind of up to us. What are we willing to fight for? We have to pick our battles, but at some point we have to say: “Enough is enough! Get out of my way! STFU, it’s my turn to talk!”

“...one of the organizers. He’s saying they didn’t cancel.”

So perhaps the story saying they did was fake news, designed to disrupt the rallies?
