Oregon became one of the first states to make tuition free for new students at community colleges last year, but the cash-strapped state can't fully fund the program this fall. Now some students won't be able to participate.

“Free! Free is good! Socialism rules! Oh, wait ...”
*************
There’s a strong human tendency to want something for nothing. That’s why socialism is appealing to many. The notion of free stuff, less work, and the great utopian allure of economic equality.
Most people prefer to take the “easy road”. Politicians exploit this innate human desire everyday. False promises get them votes.
The problem, of course, is that socialism has never worked. But that reality is never acknowledged by those who profit from pushing it. They are not unlike drug dealers IMO.

I seem to remember Reagan made the first two years of college free when he was governor.

You could replace “tuition” with “healthcare” and it will demonstrate how a single-payer system would operate.

Are more students completing community college programs? Are they getting better jobs? Are more students going on to a four year degree? If you can’t answer the above questions then the program isn’t a success.
Also as I’ve said before, if the state pays for your education, then the state gets to tell you what you are going to to study, and what your career is going to be.

I heard on one of the Fox News shows last night that Vermont (Bernie Sanders country) tried their @sses off to get a single-payer h/c system going but it failed.
What a surprise.
