The sheriff hasn’t removed it because he wants to be able to deny saying it. First question: Who would have beach jurisdiction? The state or the county? Pinnelas County, FL has gorgeous gulf beaches that are County Parks. How does CA operate? The entity with AUTHORITY has to move it. If the sheriff thought HE had it, he’d have already done it; and probably would’ve shot the guy’s dog, too.
I believe ocean front home property lines extend only to the mean high water line - outside of that are the navigable waters of the United States.

That is not the issue. The issue is whether the public has a right to cross on his private land to get to the beach.

Actually, the ‘public’ was paying the previous owner for access.
The way I understand it the guy does not own the beach he owns the road people want to use/trespass to get to that beach. Does every land owner have to provide access through their property if next to public land?
Didn’t know about that. If there’s no easement or right of way to that beach spelled out in the deed, then the county or state have a problem. Any such access would have been clearly shown in the legal description and land survey.
It used to be that the rich were in enclaves in the East coast and they did not impact the regular population. Now I am seeing the rich push their way into areas middle class people used and preventing them access. That is one of the reasons why there is an anti rich sentiment in this country They are thoughtlessly sucking up resources of the middle class.
An example, I am seeing more monster yachts at marinas that cater to smaller boats. They dont care that their one huge boat is taking away space for other people to use, and blocking the view.
Is the road considered a “public thoroughfare”, meaning that the road is or was built or maintained by the city, county, state, etc. Or is it a private lane on private property and built/maintained by the property owner?
If there’s no easement or right of way there, then the only options are to purchase the right of way, or find another access route on public property.
