In a memo to employees of Apple, Inc., CEO Tim Cook announced that the tech giant would be donating $1 million each to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and Anti-Defamation League (ADL), matching donations by employees two-for-one, and allowing iTunes users to directly support the work of the SPLC.
I believe Apple has led by example, and were going to keep doing that, said Cook. We have always welcomed people from every walk of life to our stores around the world and showed them that Apple is inclusive of everyone.
In the wake of the tragic and repulsive events in Charlottesville, we are stepping up to help organizations who work to rid our country of hate, he said.
The memo also commented on President Donald Trumps response to the violence that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, condemning what Cook saw as a moral equivalence made in Trumps statements on the event.

Tim Cook is a sodomite.
Garbage.
LOL!
I will let my fellow freepers come up with hypocrisy in that statement.
Let us start off with, a Somali apposing homophobic viewpoints.
Or those very Neo-Nazis themselves.
Would they be welcome?
SPLC is more racist than the democrat party and that is saying something.
Apple is now on record supporting racism.
I wish I had some Apple crap so I could stop using it.
Audit the SPLC and revoke its tax exemption for it’s racist and bigoted “hate list”
Deny any ‘charitable” deductions to a political racist front, that is anything BUT charitable
Communists oppose Nazi’s, I guess that means they are ok?

“Zinsmeister at Philanthropy Roundtable calls it out: The SPLC is a cash-collecting machine. In 2015 it vacuumed up $50 million in contributions and foundation grants, a tidy addition to its $334 million holdings of cash and securities and its headquarters worth $34 million. Theyve never spent more than 31 percent of the money they were bringing in on programs, and sometimes they spent as little as 18 percent.”
“SPLC founder Morris Dees was inducted into the Direct Marketing Hall of Fame in 1998. That should tell you a lot.”
“Bona fide civil rights activists have described the SPLC founder as a con man and a fraud. A 2000 Harpers Magazine article by Ken Silverstein quotes anti-death penalty activist Millard Farmer on Dees apparent fund-raising monomania: Hes the Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker [notorious televangelists] of the civil rights movement, though I dont mean to malign Jim and Tammy Faye.”
There are always a few rotten apples.
Have never owned an Apple product and never will .
Hey Limbaugh, still going to hawk their wares?
The outfits would be wise to just stay out of politics and do what they do best.
But no. They got to get in the middle of it....in the long run, they will suffer the unintended consequences of their actions.
Oh wait. I own a flip phone and a 10 year old lap top.
Oops.
Sorry, I'm good...carry on.
I just bought my first smartphone and it wasn't an iPhone. Then again, just about every tech company leans left, so what can you do?

“the SPLC peddles leftist donors under the false guise that the organization is short on cash and demonizes certain organizations”
“the SPLC also has a bad habit of duplicating..”
“the 1,007 hate groups number counts individual chapters of national or regional groups. For instance, the American Nazi Party is listed six times, and the Council of Conservative Citizens is listed 37 times.”
“In 2014, the SPLC actually listed Dr. Ben Carson under their “Extremist Files” list”
The staged play in Charlottesville is having its desired effect.
Divide and raise money.
The conquer part comes later.
I hope Rush Limbaugh stops hawking Apple products.
Personally, i believe Apple has too much business.
