Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews says his office is working to identify individuals who pulled down the Confederate statue on Durham County property Monday night.
Andrews’ statement comes amid reports that sheriff’s officials were present when the statue was pulled down, videoing the act but not intervening to stop it or arrest those doing it.
Breitbart News reported that protesters placed a tow rope around the neck and shoulder of a Confederate statue and pulled it down from atop the monument on which it stood. WNCN reports that protesters took turns kicking the statue once it was on the ground, and at least one protester spat on it.

While the job of lawmen is acting as Peace Officers, at some point mob control goes beyond the capacity of local or State Police, and flows over into the sphere of the State Governor and the National Guard. The threat of force at the point of the bayonet makes it a lot more impersonal and harder for miffed protesters to later take it out on individual members of the police force who have to keep on working and living in the local community.
They WATCHED an act of vandalism and did nothing.
The jackass could have done it by walking up and cuffing them as it was happening.
Sheriffs don’t work for the Mayor, so he might do actually do it.
The punishment for all perpetrators tearing down statues should be they are put in American history classes until they ace every single test at 100%.
They were wearing shorts, a tee-shirt, between the ages of 12-75 and stood on two legs..
I emailed and asked if it's their policy to allow vandalism if it's something we don't like. I said if that's true I'm moving there and taking out the Starbucks and traffic lights.

Post notices around school that Public School Admin will be torn down as they segregated blacks.
He is a liar. There is a reason no cops were around, they wanted the statue down and let these revolutionaries (who happen to hate cops as much as confederates) pull it down while they watched from a distance. The sheriff had his chance, now besides being a coward, he is a liar too.
Trouble is, it WILL look good on their resumes. In fact, they could become Google engineers right now.
Police departments better get their act together and have a strategy to deal with ANTIFA, or ANTIFA is going to morph into the brown shirts and take control.
All these weirdos are the people we used to make fun of in the old days. They know that they are foolish. They have to hang around other weirdos to feel”normal”. It’s payback time for them. This will lead up to feeding us to lions. All we can do is pray for the swift return of Jesus.

This is 2017. We don't erect statues to Confederate soldiers in 2017.
They'll probably put a statue back up, but not that one.

They win again. That must be the other reason they didn’t try to stop them. Horrible. This sh7t has got to stop and stop now.
