The events in Charlotte could have been used to point out that the Extreme left-- Black Lives Matter, Black Bloc, and Antifa are just as bad as the KKK and Neonazis et al. And even more violent. At least according to recent history (Riots at Berkeley, Ferguson and elsewhere, cop assassinations etc)
And the events in Charlotte could have been used to point out that the media who says trump hasn't done enough to condemn extremism, never calls on democrats to denounce left wing extremist groups. Did any democrat ever condemn BLM's rioting? Did any of them condemn The riots at berkeley? Did any of them condemn the shooting of Steve Scalise? Nope.
They were bad optics. but overall, No, the things I mentioned could have been brought up but weren't.
Worse optics were given when a leftist nut shot Scalise, when for weeks BLM people rioted and killed police and antifa people beat people at Berkeley. But our leaders decided they didn't weant to make a big deal out of those things.
The left always gets away with it because no one will stand up to them, except Trump, and this time even he wouldn't do it.

if the lefties had been granted its fondest wish would be fulfilled, what happened in Charlottesville fits the bill...right wingers getting beat up, and an honest to goodness martyr in a victim of vehicular homicide by a supporter of the right wingers...this will result in laws against the right of assembly due to hate speech concerns, but only enforced against right wing assembly...
