Sessions Says ‘Evil Attack’ in Virginia Is Domestic Terrorism

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Jeff Sessions said on Monday that the “evil attack” in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend meets the legal definition of an act of domestic terrorism, an early declaration in an investigation after a car plowed into a crowd of protesters.

“It does meet the definition of domestic terrorism in our statute,” Mr. Sessions said on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” referring to a fatal attack on Saturday when a vehicle drove into a crowd protesting white nationalists, killing one woman and injuring others. A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged by Virginia authorities with second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and failing to stop at the scene of a crash that resulted in a death.

“You can be sure we will charge and advance the investigation toward the most serious charges that can be brought because this is unequivocally an unacceptable evil attack,” Mr. Sessions said, adding that terrorism and civil rights investigators were working on the case.

Mr. Sessions appeared on several morning news shows on Monday, condemning the violent demonstrations over the removal of a Confederate monument and defending President Trump’s response.

I have been in a somewhat similar situation before, and I didn't react all that much differently than what this guy did -- especially when he put his car in reverse and began speeding backwards.

The female reporter who got beaten up for filming a group of “antifa” mutants sent a Twitter message very shortly after the incident with the car ... indicating that the police officers she had spoken to suggested it wasn’t a deliberate attack but a young guy who was scared sh!tless and panicked when people began attacking his car.

The evidence so far shows a man trying to get away from an armed mob that was attacking him and smashing out the windows of his vehicle. The man put the car in reverse and ran over the attackers in order to save his own life.

There is no indication that is what happened...video shows the car driving at least one block and through an intersection before plowing into the protesters milling in the street.

The driver was not under attack before that happened, nor was his vehicle being blocked.

I’ve been willing to give Sessions the benefit of the doubt, believing that maybe he is accomplishing significant things that just aren’t being reported. But this statement is not good. Obama was way too quick to declare judgment before the facts came out. Was this terrorism? Quite possibly. A thorough investigation should reveal the driver’s motives and preceding actions. But there’s also the very real possibility that he was trying to get away from a situation where he was being attacked. See how quickly the baseball bats came up behind him in the video? I believe they were already in attack mode. The thing is, we just don’t know. And only a fool declares judgment before he knows the facts. Are you a fool Mr. Sessions?
By the way, my local news was awfully quick to point out (in bold headlines) that the driver is a registered Republican. Where was this sense of “journalistic responsibility” in Orlando, or the congressional ball game?

I don’t condone the death of this woman by any stretch but how is it that this driver gets a fair trial when Sessions and the A-hole Virginia Governor calls him a terrorist?Sessions needs to ask why the police were told to stand down and why they did a poor job of upholding safety to everyone irregardless of politics. BTW,in some states it’s illegal to block traffic and if one feels threatened He/she can do what is necessary to be safe. This was in response to the REAL terrorists like Antifa and BLM who are a very real threat and danger.
