Eagles player says he'll protest the national anthem, even if Kaepernick doesn't
CBS Sportlsine ^ | 8/12/2017 | John Breech

Posted on 08/12/2017 1:01:13 PM PDT by Kazan

It looks like the movement started by Colin Kaepernick last season isn't going to end during the 2017 season just because he's out of football. Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins revealed this week that he'll be protesting during the national anthem again in 2017 after also protesting in 2016.

Like Kaepernick, Jenkins will be protesting racial injustice and police brutality against minorities. However, unlike Kaepernick, Jenkins won't be kneeling during the national anthem. Instead, the Eagles safety raises a fist over his head, like he did during Philadelphia's opening preseason game Thursday against the Packers.

Jenkins released a lengthy statement this week explaining why he'll once again be protesting.

"Last season, I raised my fist as a sign of solidarity to support people, especially people of color, who were and are still unjustly losing their lives at the hands of officers with little to no consequence," Jenkins said, via ESPN.com "After spending time with police officers on ride-alongs, meeting with politicians on the state and federal level and grass roots organizations fighting for human rights, it's clear that our criminal justice system is still crippling communities of color through mass incarceration."

If the broadcast networks show that instead of the multitudes respecting our nation, DEFINITELY LET THE BOYCOTTS BEGIN (AND EXPAND) AGAIN.

Amusing. “Analysts” will spend endless hours glorifying Jenkins and justifying his actions. That is safe and politically correct. However you can be sure those same analysts won’t ever discuss why the NFL and NBA have more that 70% black players. That discussion is strictly verboten.

Philly’s a chit hole...killing every night..this clown should roam the city every night for a month.....dressed as a security guard...unarmed, he’d be sucking on his thumb of his fist after three nights

“Mass incarceration?”

You mean, “persons of color” are just rounded up and locked in prison for no reason?

I really, really like to watch football. But this year looks like I won’t. If the players insist on politicizing it, and the league allows it, I’ll live without it.

He's still standing and saluting. Better than kneeling.

I would handle this if I controlled the NFL by trading these idiots to the Canadian leaque. Then they would not live in this country. Even better would be to the Cuban leaque (if there is one).

I swear by the beard of Zuess if the owners don’t get their employees in line, it could be a very long time before I watch another game or attend.

Except for the most amazing Superbowl ever, I didn’t see one game last year.

“Not too late to cut him...”

All cuts this year happen after the last preseason game. That means the owners will have tons of guys to choose from all at the same time to put on their practice squads. That will provide plenty of cover if no one picks him up. He just got lost in the shuffle.

Given the ratings hit precipitated by Kaepernick's antics, I wonder how long the NFL will let this BS go on.

I mean, they control every other aspect of the NFL player all the way down to how they wear their socks. But doing these asinine protests is ok even when it hurts ratings?

“...that if you’re respectful to cops they will treat you with respect too.”

See Chris Rock’s “How to not get your @zz kicked by the police” for several examples.

Anyway, wife & I watch only collegiate football. Less mass, more skill. Overpaid ‘roided up behemoths (now with more attitude!!) aren’t worth the time.

Any good services contract prohibits public displays or activities that interfere with or detract from the marketability of sales of the management’s products/ ticket sales. , players engaged in ongoing such antics must be doing so with the approval of permission of the owners. It is for this reason that I will not attend any of those teams’ games or patronize them in any other way. Insult my country, you insult me

I bet he gets cut.

If not, then owner will regret this by the end of the season.
