The recently confirmed secretary of the Navy says he will follow any order the president gives on transgender troops, but that any patriot should be allowed to serve.
We will process and take direction of a policy that is developed by the [Defense] secretary [with] direction from the president and march out smartly, Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer told reporters Thursday night after visiting Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia.
"On a fundamental basis, any patriot that wants to serve and meets all the requirements should be able to serve in our military"
Spencer was confirmed a week after President Trump tweeted that he plans to ban transgender people from serving in the military.

The Navy Secretary ought not break ranks with his Commander in Chief.
On a fundamental basis, people with penises are called "men," and people with vaginas are called "women." Beyond that, we spend too much money trying to understand them and their non-fundamental ways. Money that should be spent on bullets.
Rank insubordination. Trump needs to get Spencer in a room alone and ‘get his mind right’.
Do you meet ALL the requirements? Key phrase.
The guy’s a civilian. Military branch secretaries are presidential appointments approved by the senate. Their main function typically is to work congress so that their branches get as much money as possible. Their goals are typically to line their pockets from the defense contractors. The current guy in question was a USMC helicopter pilot serving five years in the late ‘70’s. As far as trannies and queers serving, the CNO would be the one to effectuate the presidential orders, not SECNAV. But then, I was just a lowly E-4.
Do they meet ALL THE REQUIREMENTS?
Should patriots who are blind be allowed to serve? What about the deaf? What about those with sever allergies?
Or diabetics, or those with heart conditions, and most analogous, what about those with mental disorders?
The suicidal genital mutilating fake hormone taking trannies are not mentally fit to be in the military.
I’m a patriot, 70 years old, congestive heart failure and diabetes and urinary problems. Where do i sign up?
Well if we ever create our version of the “Volksturm” I’m sure they’ll have a place for you.
Unless they have: Flat feet, overweight, too skinny, too old, too young, poor eyesight, strict dietary requirements, have a medical issue such as type-1 diabetes, etc...
This guy has no respect for his CIC. He is not a patriot.
Trey Gowdy’s comments on the military (in response to the transgender situation).
Nobody has a “right” to serve in the Military. Nobody.
What makes people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer? Very far from it.
The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short.
Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers. Poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth. Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identify as a Unicorn?
Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair? Can’t run the required course in the required time? Can’t do the required number of pushups?
Not really a “morning person” and refuse to get out of bed before noon?
All can be reasons for denial. The Military has one job. War. Anything else is a distraction and a liability.
Did someone just scream “That isn’t Fair”? War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful.
YOU change yourself to meet Military standards. Not the other way around.
I say again: You don’t change the Military... you must change yourself.
The Military doesn’t need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars. If any of your personal issues are a liability that detract from readiness or lethality... Thank you for applying and good luck in future endeavors. Who’s next in line?
What a patriot is not: someone seeking to inflict sexual perversion and mental illness on his nation’s military.
“and meets all the requirements” Mysteriously missing from headline
Any “patriot?” Even people with very expensive ongoing physical and psychological disabilities that demand copious amounts of public funding for treatment?
