Freedom Caucus seeks to force ObamaCare repeal vote
The Hill ^ | 8-11-17 | Peter Sullivan

The conservative House Freedom Caucus on Friday is planning a move to try and force a vote on an ObamaCare repeal bill.

A spokeswoman for the group said members plan to file a "discharge petition," which would force a vote on a repeal bill if it gets signatures from a majority of the House.

The move is usually used to go around leadership and try to bring up a measure to the floor for a vote.

The plan comes as the Freedom Caucus, and some other Republicans, are pushing to keep the repeal effort alive, despite the Senate's failed vote last month.

The group is seeking a vote on a repeal-only measure that passed in 2015. Conservatives argue that Republicans are being hypocritical if they vote against that bill now since they already voted for it two years ago.

But it is in serious doubt whether it could pass. Many Republicans say they want to have replacement measures in place at the same time to prevent people from losing coverage.

I think it was Jim Jordan of OH. Yay for him despite his idiotic faux Republican Gov.

Conservatives argue that Republicans are being hypocritical

*************

This is nothing to argue. Its an established fact.

Republicans are liars and hypocrites. Does anyone have any idea what the party stands for other than their own re-election? They are big on talk but short on results.

There is nothing ‘conservative’ about the GOP. Its a soulless party devoid of principles, beliefs or convictions.

They should definitely do this while there's still time to primary those who don't support this initiative. Unless they defund it, though, it's all theater. The disgusting swampthings in the US Senate have plenty of "Republicans" (sold out globalist slime) to vote down repeal, so those up for re-election can vote for repeal and it still gets defeated in the US Senate.

A question....maybe someone knows. If Mitch McConnell were really serious about repealing ObamaCare, at the very least getting the skinny repeal passed, could he strip every Republican who votes "no" of their cherished committee assignments? I have seen any indication that he's done anything to punish the gaggle of traitors.

Make them vote. I want a record of all the RINOs who voted "yes" in 2015 that would vote "no" now that we have a majority in the Senate and the Executive Office. We need more "elections with consequences".

Speaking of the Freedom Caucus and McNuts’ “thumbs down” vote, (oh, you weren’t but I am) I heard General Thomas McInerney on Fox Business the other day call McNuts “John Songbird McCain”! I nearly wrecked! A military General calling out “Songbird” McNuts!

I think they FIRST need to stay in the halls of Congress until the have rounded up the votes they want.

“Forcing” the vote for a bill that won’t get enough votes could be very bad public relations for the GOP, and for those the Freedom Caucus wants to influence. That could make for bad feelings in the GOP for the Freedom Caucus, in the manner of “thanks for bringing us to another public defeat”. Is THAT what the Freedom Caucus wants?

Get them all on record. Primary season is coming.

No not at all. It would be bad "public relations" for any RINOs who vote against full repeal.

THAT has already been established. How many more times does the Freedom Caucus need to see the same list of RINOs.

No it is just publicity for the Freedom Caucus and bad publicity for the GOP and will breed even more GOP division, not less.

Yes, go to the primaries and go after the RINOs on Obamacare.

Another “no” vote in Congress. A bad idea.

No. It's good publicity for those who vote for the appeal and bad publicity for those who vote against the appeal.

Pretty simple.

No. It’s bad PR - THEY LOST - for everyone, GOP AND the Freedom Caucus. It says as much the “freedom caucus” lost, as anything.

The RINOs on Obamacare are already exposed. Another vote to merely count them again is a stunt, a bad stunt, an uncessary stunt and serves MOST those who will claim, again “see, they lost”.

Okay, you've given up. The Freedom Caucus continues to try without you. And no it doesn't say anything bad about the Freedom Caucus.

Oh, so now it's a "stunt". Bad Freedom Caucus. They should go to their room. LOL.

I couldn't disagree more with your point of view on this. We'll have to agree to disagree.
