Stephen Miller, the Trump senior policy adviser who just tangled on-camera with CNN's Jim Acosta, is under consideration for White House communications director, top Trump sources tell me.
The effort to find a Mooch successor is still in the name-gathering process, and Miller is not the top contender, the sources said.
But Steve Bannon likes the idea of Miller for the job, and Miller was the hero of the West Wing after he attacked Acosta as a "cosmopolitan" for his views on immigration.
When Miller finished that press briefing, his colleagues high-fived him, according to Sebastian Gorka, a national-security aide who's a favorite of the president's for his over-the-top TV hits.
The super-key point: Trump cares primarily about how people perform on TV. He's totally uninterested in the behind-the-scenes, unglamorous planning work of a comms director.

Be still, my heart! But... Miller needs to be behind the mic, not behind a desk in the Communications Office.
You can not teach what Miller has. He’s a class act, confident and KNOWLEDGE RICH. Sarah needs to go and Miller needs to be the permanent fixture in all briefings. Put her behind the desk. No one will care if your posture is bad and you sound like a hay seed behind the desk, cutting jokes and practicing your snark.
Miller absolutely rocks! Except he is equally skillful at policy, where he is probably very much needed.
It’s Miller time and Miller has earned it. I’m all in on this one.

I’d rather see Dennis Miller as White House communications director. :-)
Unnamed sources and you don’t even bother to list the writer
I am sick of y this crapola.
Let the WH make whatever announcement they need to make. All of this other stuff is BS. And really? Axios as a trusted source......BWAHAHAHAHA
LOL Dennis Miller should be somewhere in this administration ;)
The one thing I miss about O’Reilly being gone is Dennis Miller.
Some people call him Maurice
Or the space cowboy.
LOL! Dennis was a hoot, wasn’t he.
No, no no - Stephen is too smart for that job — put in Dana Perino!
Fox News, citing administration sources, is reporting that Miller is not the top candidate for the Communications Director position.
“He’s totally uninterested in the behind-the-scenes, unglamorous planning work of a comms director.”
How credible is Axios? This strikes me as very unlikely for a number of reasons that imho should be obvious...
Because he speaks of the Pompatus of love.
Well they should banish Acosta as he never follows the rules and is terminally disruptive. Asks numerous questions and is combative, quarrelsome and petulant.
Miller is more needed in his current job of making policy. Luckily he has survived (so far) the McMaster pogrom against Trump loyalists.
I want Miller right where he is: in the President’s ear.
Running the Communications Office is like running a campaign. It really is the same job. The obvious choice is KellyAnne Conway.
I can almost guarantee they are negotiating with her to take the job with some flex time added in so she can still be with her family.
Watch and see.
If and I mean IF the President ever let ANYONE dismiss Miller it would be the biggest disappointment ever........especially if the dismissal came from Baldy McMaster........sheesh!
Miller = MSM nightmare.
Miller, whatever his role should be, should be sent out in front of the cameras much more often.
